Live from Saturday's Minicamp Sessions

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, it is Dan reporting from the Media Center in Chargers Park.

The players are set to take the field in a few minutes, while a few thousand fans have excitedly taken their place in the northside bleachers to have a first look at the 2005 San Diego Chargers.

I will be in and out of the media center all day, trying to get as many questions answered as possible. I still have to find my comfort zone among all the hardcore journalists in attendance.

I did bring my digital camera, and although I accidentally damaged it a couple of months back, I hope to get you guys some pictures at the end of practice, maybe the first practice.

Very special thanks to Joel, Mr. Steeg and the rest of the Chargers family for giving a fan like me this opportunity!

The following players did not work yesterday: running back Jesse Chatman (toe), linebacker Ben Leber (foot), defensive end Adrian Dingle (knee) and defensive lineman Dave Ball (back). None of those four will work the rest of the weekend. Receiver Keenan McCardell (hamstring) and center Nick Hardwick (back) sat out the afternoon practice. They could return.

As expected Shawne Merriman is not in attendance. Chargers guard Toniu Fonoti reportedly was flying in from Houston and should be here today. I will keep you guys posted.

I just overheard that Fonoti was at Charger Park - but he didn't suit up for AM practice. He doesn't look overweight and he's probably going to have a physical. If the doctors clear him, he'll get dressed for the PM session.

I have been looking at the offensive drills so far. It does look like day 2 back from vacation, a little sluggish.

Watch the tint of Coach Mauck's skin around his neck and ears - about the time it blossoms from red to purple you will see the O-Line get "motivated"!

Dan, if this one holds true to form - the first day was primarily the returning starters "showing the kids how its supposed to be done" and today, particularly in the afternoon session, you should be able to spot a bit more activity out of the Rooks - should be a lot of fun to try to spot/assess how they look.

Rumor is that he has a boot on his ankle or has it wrapped. Confirmation?
