Default Philip Rivers Interview in this week's Sporting News: "I Don't Know Any Other Way"

Y'all need to pick up this week's magazine. It has an excellent 4-page interview (Sporting News Conversation) with PR that covers many different topics.

When I get time tomorrow, I'll fill in some of the questions and PR's answers.

If anyone else has a copy and wants to chip in with some of the Q&A material, feel free to post it.

I hate to be a shill, but I recommend that you pick up a copy. Great stuff!!

Way too long of an interview to do it justice, but here is the "Just One Question" segment that was asked of Antonio Gates:
___________________________________

For Antonio Gates, Chargers Pro Bowl tight end:

Sure, Philip Rivers is respected in the locker room, but does he truly fit in on a personal level?

"Man, he's definitely one of the most well-liked guys on the whole team. Normally, the great quarterbacks are the general type. But Philip has the demeanor of, like, a cornerback or wide receiver - totally easygoing and hilarious.

For example, I'm sitting there watching a Lakers-Rockets playoff game and, out of nowhere, I get a text from Philip that says, "I'm gonna get my hair cut like Ron Artest." That was funny.

But he's also the guy we follow out on to that field. When he played (in the 2007 playoffs) with a torn ACL, it was a big moment. It blew away the doubts anybody had about who is the leader of this team."

I'll add some of the actual interview snippets over the weekend.

Hey Joe!

Many thanks for drawing our attention to this. As always, counting down the weeks until preseason, and always looking for more info this time of year.

best

If the team feels so strongly about PR how come we never hear any of them stick up for him when the media runs him down?

^He's the leader, he can handle his own. Not only that, but I don't think Rivers cares.

Charger players echo what Gates said every time that they are interviewed on the subject - and they laugh at the media.

Who cares what "they" say is the players' attitude.

Players can't control how the media wants to spin a story.
