Sorry I disagree, every head coach in the NFL should have the ability to choose their own staff. Marty has a legendary coaching tree. He's had quite a few good head coaches start on his staff. Maybe he knew a thing or two about assistant coaches, maybe he knew the mess that Cottrell was. This is a dead horse we are beating. But sorry, thats my opinion.

I hate how Spanos waits til the end of the season to make all decisions. We all know he's going to fire Norv, its just a matter of when.

I personally think if we fire Norv and hire a monkey right now, we have a better chance of making the playoffs this season.

Around 12 mil in contracts between AJ (about 2 mil a year) and Norv (about 3 mil a year) would Spanos send them packing,and if so what does it do to future hiring?

How would the Chargers be able to install a new offense and defense in less than a week's time? If Norv gets fired in the middle of the season, I would expect a promotion from within, an interim coach, and then in the off season a hiring of a new head coach. To expect the Chargers to bring in a new coach from outside the organization now, would mean that the remainder of the season is just thrown away.
