Why do you all think that you will beat the Texans. The experts have made them a 4 1/2 point favorite. They are playing at home in the LOUDEST staduium in the NFL and they are going to crush your little chargers.

They take the crowd out early, and they have nothing to worry about, If they put 8 in the box to stop LT, well a lot of Teams have tried, but they have not benn able to do it yet, well Mr. Brees and his newly found passing game and Antonio Gates will just move this Team right down the field.

OH

have you met Igor yet?

Good Point WyoBolt, Lets see how many games did the chargers win in 2003.... Oh that's right 4.... one less than the Texans

Let's just break it down logically.

Coaching Advantage Texans (more like double advantage)
Pass Defense -------- Advantage Texans
Run Defense --------- Advantage Texants
Run/ Pass Blocking--- Push
Running --------------- Advantage Chargers (although with Dominick Davis smaller than you would think)
Passing ----------------Advantage Texans
Special Teams ------- Advantage Texans
Home Field Advantage -- TEXANS
Passing ---------- Advantage Texans

Before you open your mouth you better be worried about LT and Michael Turner running down your throats and when you put eight in the box Eric Parker and Gates are gonna eat the Texans alive.

Well jabar Gafney nor Bradford worry me Jammer will have Johnson sewed up all day after all he he practiced for a year with the most physical receiver in the NFL last year a 250lb David BOston so Jammer will be all over your guy Johnson. Your safeties are gonnna get hurt first by Gates and then Tomlinson. Sharper cant cover either of them. Robinson is gonna get ripped on by a guy that is nearly 5 inches taller than Robinson and rookie corners arent studs. Watched the NFL Rookie Special and Robinson wasn't that sharp of a guy. What is your O line? Not a decent guy there. dont kid yourself about Wade the Dolphins didnt like him.i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif DAve Ragone is an excellent QB not sure about that Carr fella though. I dont see what you see in your team cant see how the passing attack no i dont see how your offense is going to do much of anything. Through my investigative and impervious intellect, I have used an un-biased approach and now feel secure in saying that the Chargers will win BIG not just big but Texas BIG!!!!

It will be a great homecoming for "The Main Event" and Jammer

Texans ranked last in the AFC in Defense in 2003. The Texans ranked last in the AFC in Offense in 2003. That is 16 out of 16 dead last in both catagories.

Sure Vegas has them a 4 pt favorite, guess what, if the game is in San Diego the Chargers would be a 2 pt favorite. The game is statistically close and on paper it should be a good one. But for a Texan fan to come into our forum and act like they are some powerhouse and the Chargers have no shot of winning is laughable. The Texans are not the Colts or Titans, don't kid yourself "ojthecat".

As for the loudest stadium, guess it wasn't too loud for a 3-5 home record in 2003 and 2-6 in 2002.

Lets also not forget the last time these 2 met in the regular season Chargers 24 Texans 3

Reliant Stadium the loudest in the league? I thought that cheering measured more db's boos and jeers.

Take it from a guy in vegas. A lot of people are taking the 4.5 point spread as a gimme for the bolts. probably 7 out of 10 people are puttin the bolts on their parlay's. I'm just happy to have the bolts come outta the gates 1-0. Peace!

Hey Chargers fans, I hope that we all can watch a great game from both teams. I hope it's a safe one for everyone and no injuries. I have to wait and see how my team plays before I can make any predictions. On paper we look really good, now I hope the paper is right. I hope you guys win the west, I'm sick of the Chiefs and Broncos.

Welcome to the board Sam. I watch a lot of Texans games as I have Directv Sunday Ticket. The Texans were in a lot of close games last year against some very good teams so this Chargers fan isn't taking them lightly. But, you guys HAVE to start protecting your franchise QB or that kid is going to take one too many to the dome. You guys have solid management that has a vision for the future. And, I hope you guys load the box and play man on the outsides on sunday; we may not have Johnson but we have a fearless wideout named Parker that can and will beat man coverage.

ok..well i'm a texan fan...native houstonian...and i'll tell you how the game is going to go...it starts with the lines...and it's real simple...you are starting two rookies...nick hardwick and shane olivea...center and right tackle respectably....hardwick will be going against seth payne and olivea will be going against gary walker and jason babin...nuff said...our o-line is solid...we have no weak spots on the o-line barring no injury...we will control the line battle and we will win the game up front...brees is not good enough to beat our team...LT is but he still has to have a line to block for him...now ya'll can run to the the left side...but if that's all you can do we can easily plan against that

It's much easier to game plan around rookies on the o-line than it is to plan around a rookie starting at cornerback. Us Chargers fans have basically watched this for the past two years (Jammer then Davis), and now you Texans fans will. LT will pull your safeties in, and then Robinson is gonna get torched over and over again. Enjoy.

You guys keep forgetting the biggest advantage of them all.

The Chargers have Marty and the Texans don't.

Admit it you all know untill the day that Marty is fired your team will be second rate attempting to play 1950's football in the 21st century.

Here is the final score

Texans 34 Chargers 10

FYI, Capers didn't run the Panthers into the ground, that would be management's fault. They choose to load up with aging veterans in a "win now" mentality upon inception.

the Texans learned from the Panthers, Jags, and Browns' mistakes. They are doing it right, having a solid 5-year plan in place. The fact that some critics have picked the Texans as a darkhorse wildcard team in year-3 only goes to show that Charlie Casserly is a genious with his plan to start a lot of rookies and build the team slowly.

Those same critics picked us to be the darkhorse wildcard team last year. They also predicted the Bengals to win maybe 1 or 2 games last year.

Look at the Panthers, in 2001 they went 1-15, then 2002, went 7-9, and in 2003, went all the way....

Seriously, I have to admit that its good to see the Houston fans have somebody to root for again. I felt awful for them when the Oilers took off for Tennessee, (I felt worse for the players on that team).

I remember things were so bad there that Bobby Ross refused to play a pre-season game for fear one of his players would get hurt on that worn out surface over cheap plyboard.

Now they have a new stadium - a new team - and something to be proud of. More power to them - - - except for this weekend. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Let's just break it down logically.

Coaching Advantage Texans (more like double advantage)

Pass Defense -------- Advantage Texans

Run Defense --------- Advantage Texants

Run/ Pass Blocking--- Push

Running --------------- Advantage Chargers (although with Dominick Davis smaller than you would think)

Passing ----------------Advantage Texans

Special Teams ------- Advantage Texans

Home Field Advantage -- TEXANS

Passing ---------- Advantage Texans

LMAO!!!! Show us some real stats! I can't belive you typed all that just to give your opinion in each category.....LOL The only thing you got out of this message was carpotunnel.

Enjoy.Robinson was not so great this preseason giving up big plays something like 5 catches for over 20 yards each.Ahh the life of a rookie CB in the NFL,we will have plenty of success against him on Sunday!! GO CHARGERS!! One more thing, how in the hell do you get a name like DUNTA? i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif

Robinson showed flashes as to why he was the #10 pick, especially on K.Johnson. Of course he will make mistakes, that is how you learn.

Luckily we have Aaron Glenn, He will take the #1 WR

I saw someone point out the height difference between Robinson and some Charger WR, while I agree that is a matchup that SD should try to exploit, it really isn't that big of a deficit as A.Glenn is only 5'9", Darrell Green, who is considered one of the best cover man in NFL history, was only 5'9" as well. So a CB can be successful, even if he is shorter than most of the men he is covering

I didn't say that Glenn or Robinson are in Green's league, but Glenn is short and has been very successful ( 3 time Pro-Bowler)

Height differences are something both teams will try to exploit ( Andre Johnson is 6'3")

I think if we try to cover Johnson with #22 Davis we will have trouble with that matchup.Glenn is a good CB,no disagreement here.We have Osgood who is 6'5" so we will try to take advantage like you said as well.

That will be a true test of if our front line is where it needs to be. LT is the best. But due to a lack of respect to the Chargers passing game the texans will be ready for just that. Not that always helps with a player like LT! haha

I'm a Texans fan that lives in Houston, but foremost a loyal Chargers and Rams fan. I will say this: stats are for losers, both teams play with heart, and this will be a good one, go Chargers!

Ahem... I still think it is your OL that you should be most worried about. They should be tested fairly well by a Phillips coached defence. We'll see Sunday.

As I type this - 36 hours and 15 minutes to game time - but who is counting? i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

OBSERVATION:
Houston has opened their two previous seasons with upsets - since this time they are the "favorites" - stand by for that trend of opening day upsets to continue.

If our defense can play a good game we have an excellent chance of winning.

If the D is just average, I fear we do not have any offensive weapons outside of LT to carry us to the victory.

Actually, that is how the entire year is going to unfold.

The D had better learn that 3-4 quickly. With a less than average D, it's going to be a long year.

ESPN is reporting that Texans' starting fullback, Moran Norris, is 50-50 after aggrevating a shoulder injury. If he doesn't play, Jarrod Baxter, who missed all of last season with a foot injury will play.

Tim Dwight is expected to miss due to his hamstring injury. Not too big of a deal that we'll miss Dwight because it means that Osgood will get more reps. i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

Don't know much about Norris and comments from the peanut gallery, er Texan contingent?

It was just the lowly Texans we beat today so while i'm thrilled I am not ecstatic. Glad we didnt turn the ball over which is THE key to Marty Ball. Marty Ball works as long as there are no turnovers. Defense is still weak on the outside but I like the aggression. 2 sacks and 2 ints. Good day! However it was just the Texans. Looks like they will have a tough time with Miami next week. HAHHAHAHAHAHHAH

Go Bolts!!!

Go Bolts!!!Yea it was just the Texans.I had them circled as a sure win when the schedule came out even with the dismal predictions for our season. I know one thing I will take any win that we can get no matter who it is!!
