View Full Version : Toothless Defense?

From Fox Sports: San Diego at Houston

One of these teams will not be in last place at the end of Week 1, but they'll both be there at the end of Week 17.

Everyone says Houston will be much improved. They also say the Jags are playoff-bound. Oh, and they also remind us that the Colts and Titans are the two best teams in the AFC South. So what gives? The Texans, that's what. David Carr, Domanick Davis and Andre Johnson are a nice nucleus for the future, but the future isn't now (though they should get off to a nice start against this toothless defense).

With Drew Brees back under center, Dom Capers will try to figure out a way to put 14 men in the box to contain LaDainian Tomlinson. Come Sunday, Tomlinson will be on his way another pointless 400-touch season as we watch one of the potential all-time greats age prematurely right before our eyes. This team is a mess.

The Chargers have achieved the impossible: making people not want to live and work in San Diego

You know I never hope for anyone to get hurt, not even the faiders, but I sure hope that our D makes Carr and the rest of his offense wish they were never born on Sunday. BS in****s like that need to stop and stop now.

The good thing about this is that the Chargers could make them eat their own words. I do agree the team is not great but what they are not saying is were this team can go. This team is solid is young talent is every position (except WR) and within a year or two I see this team going close to all the way or even all the way to the SB. Lets just hope we throw those comments in their face.

i would love for the chargers to shut those people up. they always get me mad every year. this year or next year is going to be it though.

I believe under DC W. Phillips, this new defense will be cutting it's teeth come sunday. If the bolt defenders have taken the 3/4 to heart, they will be hitting and hitting hard. Turnovers make a good defense great, they are breaking new ground and I believe up to the task at hand. We didnt see anything during the preseason, guy were just learning their responcebilities in the new D. If the O plays as good as it did last year without the turnovers and guys stay healthy, this team will start turning heads in the league by game 4. IMHO.

I really think our D and especially our secondary is very very very under-rated. All the teams except the seascags double team Igor, showing a lot a respect for his raw strength, just think what will happen when he gets all the techniques down. Then you had Godfrey who they were trying to trick, but it never really worked, he really looks like a good pick up. I think they will solidify our D-line brillantly. Our DBs are real fast and a lot of times the opposing QBs did not see them coming, which is great. Where I really think we are underestimated at is the saftey and cornor positions. I think our team might have the best corners in the league and some damn good saftey's. What I think is happening is the so called experts are confusing lack of skill with their trying to adjust to the new rule emphesis. I watched several other preseason games and all the other teams looked like they took a step back too. I guess what I am trying to spit out is that when they are all judged on a equal basis {what they are doing this year not last year compared to this preseason} our secondary will be on of the tops, if not thee top.

The only real question mark in my mind is the recievers and like I said in prior posts, I think it has been lack of oppertunity, not skill that have been keeping them no names. Hence I expect them to take the league by suprise too. But no matter how you twist it, we will have one of, if not thee best running games in the league this year. Our O-line looks real strong and LT is actually coming back stronger than ever this year and that is even scary to a fan of his, just think of what the other teams are thinking about it lol. The other teams coaches are having wet dreams about their team picking him up some how and their players are wetting their pants at the thought of stopping him. That will have the abstract effect of helping out our passing game too. On top of that our running game actually has depth this year so when LT is out of the game, they can not let down their guard, our second and third stringers can burn them too.

All and all I am really looking forward to Sunday. I get the feeling that the league thinks we are coming in with a pea shooter, when in reality we have a M-60 locked and loaded and we going to fire it till the damn barrel melts off. You got to love it lol

Go Chargers

Pretty much everything I've read from fantasy football mags, to major sports predictions and its all bad. It makes me very angry, and I hope it makes the Chargers angry too. Vegas has our odds of winning the superbowl at 5 million to 1. Those are roughly the same odds as dying from contact with hot water (http://www.nsc.org/lrs/statinfo/odds.htm)! My bet is a lot of these people haven't bothered to watch the Chargers play in preseason, or spent a single day at camp. It's all word of mouth and paper previews. I will be at Oscars in Old Town here in Wichita at 1030 to get a booth so I can watch my Chargers play with my MEANS jersey, my hat, and my Chargers fan dog tag and be cheering at different times then all the bandwagon CHEFS fans that I'll be surrounded by are cheering, and under my breath I'll be saying TAKE THAT to all of those trashers and their insults!

This writer sounds like he has something personal against the Chargers. What a dick.

Our defense will be much improved this season, and that's without my usual home-team bias.

Wow 5 mill to 1????

Which casino I don't think we will win the SB but I have to drop a couple of bucks with those odds!!!!

The Bolts will not be as bad as the mag writers make out, I hope we get off on the right foot it would make a huge differance with the team.

I sure hope I don't have to start studing the draft by week 5 again this year.

i think youre way off base with this but i would love to eat my words...."the best corners in the league"?..."the so called experts are confusing lack of skill with their trying to adjust to the new rule emphesis"?........where are you deducing this from?

OUR..............

Defense will be improved, our ability to stop the run will be better with Igor in there, but he is a rookie, and those Rookie mistakes will come.

With the new 3-4 Scheme there will be some mistakes, but its going to be how fast they learn from those mistakes, and adjust accordingly.

The Linebackers will have to be much better as a unit, rotating them in and out should keep them fresh, they are going to have to be everywhere, and will need a breather.

The Backfield, well lets just say this.

They have a few seasons working together, that should be long enough to know what each other is thinking and reacting. They have to start gelling as a Unit now, they all need to be on the same page, and need to be one Unit.

BUT being the overly optimistic Fan that I am, all this will happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

***knocks on the monitor to wake up michael*** Hello bro, did you ever watch the preseason games? They were doing very good and on top of that, this is the first game in of the season. If you can not get up for that you might as well go watch golf, cause nothing is going to get your attention i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif
