Now that we are picking 12th we probably wont have a chance at Williams, DJ, or Rolle unless we traded up for...

In the 12th spot I think and hope we take 1 of 2 or 3 players. (in order)

1.) Pac-Man Jones CB West Virginia: Might be the fastest player in the draft, a true ballhawk and great return specialist. Mel Kiper said he was an "Ed Reed type game changer", I'd love to have one of those in our secondary. Unbelievable hard worker, always working to get better so hes got a good mindset.

2.) Ahmad Brooks LB Virginia: Only a soph. but has been out of H.S. for 3 years and is eligible for the draft but might not declare. Is believed by some draft experts to have the most upside out of ANYONE in the entire draft, that says a lot. The guys a beast and is all over the field.

3.) Erasmus James DE Wisconsin: I would only consider him here if Jones and Brooks are gone or dont enter the draft. Yes we need a pass rushing DE and James is a great one and very fast hopefully turns out to be like Freeney or Peppers, but I think 12th is too high for him considering all the injuries he has, missed his entire junior year which is why no one heard of him this year when he started breaking out.

Getting the 12th overall pick in the draft aint bad when you go to the playoffs and won your division!

Very true, and since our original pick is gonna be so high I wouldnt be surprised or upset if we traded that one to actually move up in the draft and get that impact player that we might be looking at. (Johnson, Rolle, Williams)

Pac-Man Jones=BEST NAME EVER

Too bad the Chargers are not in the market for a DE or LB. If that were the case, we could pick Matt Roth of Iowa. He is very aggressive and mean, kind of like Romanowski.(minus the roids) San Diego's best bet would be to draft an OL. One of those guys out of Oklahoma wouldn't be bad. Too bad we couldn't trade Phillip Rivers for Robert Gallery. I know many of you want a DB, but if we do draft a DB, make it a good one. Jammer hasn't played to his potential and Sammy Davis will now be a backup thanks to the play of Drayton Florence.

Trust me it will be a good one, Pac-Man Jones is going to be a beast in this league, he is fast as hell runs somewhere in the low 4.3's and he might of even gotten in the 4.2 range not sure though, he is very physical likes to hit and can come up and stop the run like an Antoine Winfield who is an excellent tackler.

There are impact players with the 12th pick. I like Edwards over Williams any day of the week.

He reminds me a little to much of Tay Cody, Cody was wuick but small, had great tackling tecnique, but he is no longer with this team for some reason. I am not saying pacman is going to be a bust, but I would prefer a rolle or rogers at CB before I look at pacman.

I think the Chargers are going to have a list of studs they will take at 12. If none are there they will trade down and pickup an additional pick in the second and still get what they want in the 1st. There is only a handful of studs in this draft and lots of good quality players that can be drafted into the 2nd round.

I hope we get WR Mike Williams or B. Edwards.. but if they are taken, take LB Derik Johnson from Texas. Those are the three guys I want from our #12 pick.

Totally agree, Chargers have to be extatic about what they can get in the draft this year after being so successful last year.

I'm suprised no one has talked about taking LSU's Marcus Spears. This guy is about as athletic as they come at his size. He's a 6-4, 300 lb guy who's been described as a larger Antonio Gates. He was impressive at the Senior Bowl, and even better, he fits our 3-4 defense perfectly at the left DE position. He's a big run-stuffer (which you need in a 3-4 DE) but he also has the speed to rush the quarterback. I think he would be a great pick. Sure, I would take Braylon Edwards or Mike Williams before him, but realistically, there's not a very good chance that will happen.

With that no. 1 pick, these are my three top choices , but i think only the third choice will be there,

1)Shawne Merriman- This guy is going to be a beast. He is huge, he has speed, and is strong, plus he is a pass rushing artist. He will be amazing on the outside.
2)B. Edwards- He could be a great #1 WR for the chargers. He has great size and good downfield speed.
3)S. Cody- This So-Cal guy would love to stay at home and has a great motor that never stops. He is also an amazing pass rusher and with Igor and Cody we would have a great line to help out our secondary.

That second pick i would like either Shazor or if we dont get a WR and Clayton is still on the board grab him.

I kinda like that Idea...hate to sound like Bobby Beatherd. But if we could maybe trade our #28 spot for an early second round pick and probably get Kirk Morrison at a discouted price....man I wouldn't mind seeing that deal go down at all. As long as I see Defense is where we are going to concentrate this draft - I'm happy. I trust AJ in his scrutinization for quality talent in all rounds.

But with the #12 - gotta go D.

Erasmus James is the only selection you have that I agree with because he is the best end out their and will pick by the chargers reasons: Washington will take cody the want winners pure and simple Dan will fork out the cash to get him. Also San Fran, Ariz and the Browns need QB's and most teams ahead of the charges got big name RBs WRs and a great LB from Texas. For the 28 pick I say take Sproles as my return man he will be the best one out there

some say yes
dont know if he would like the 3-4 though

It doesn't really matter who we pick up, because which ever player it is if he is picked 12th overall he will be am expected major contributor, unless he turns out to be another Leaf. But who knows? The cards will play out in our favor, because every team isn't looking for a good receiver or D end so that gives us 11 chances to get pac man, williams, edwards, erasmus, or any player we want, so just trust me you will not be dissapointed with the pick. Unless AJ does something unexpected. I am just curious who scouted Leaf.

I think the Chargers are going to select OT Alex Barron from Florida State with the 12th pick.

pac man will get dominated by the competition. i really liked him but now i have my doubts...a 5'8 corner in a 3-4 defense is horrible. you need big corners, not no guy whose 5'8.

Pac Man is actually 5'10 3/8 inches tall. He runs a 4.4 Forty, and is one of the best jumpers in the draft. And you say that he doesn't play big? He is a noted top notch run stuffer, who plays the run like a Safety.

What team are you guys following???? James does not fit in our 3-4 scheme AT ALL. We are set at linebacker and CB better than any other spots on our defense and you hope we use our #12 on these picks??? You must be a Denver fan in disguise.

Seriously, to the guy who said too bad we aren't in the market for a DE. That is EXACTLY what we are in the market for. DE and O-Line Depth. the FO will look at DE's and WRs at 12 unless Alex Barron is available (in which case he'll get consideration too.

Williamson, Williams, Cody S., Roth, Castillo, Clayton, Spears, Barron, these are the names you can expect to hear us go for unless some freak is available that we just can't pass up and there aren't many, if any, of those at 12.

Excellent analysis of James. However, if Pacman or Rolle are available either would be tough to pass up.Castillo won't go that high IMO. Also a stretch for Clayton.

Most Likely picks:
Mike Williams
Troy Williamson
Alex Barron
Marcus Spears

The more that I hear about Williamson the more I like. I've heard a couple people talk about trading the 12 pick to the Eagles for thier 2 first rounder's, I believe that it's picks 31, and 35, what do you guys think?

raiderhaiter619, good info. find. I didn't realize that. I suppose it just depends. If the players the chargers were looking to get at 12 are all gone it might be a good idea to trade down with philly and get pick 31 and 35. There will still be some very good players sitting there.

As for williamson. I've read where he may go sooner than the chargers 12th pick. He's the one wr that looks like he'd be really good at stretching the field.

That would be Pick 31 Overall, and Round 2 Pick 3. There are 32 teams in the league :D . I don't like the trade. We aren't getting enough for it. They would jump up 19 spots!!!! Then we would have Picks 28, 31, 35, 61 for th first two rounds. It just doesn't seem enough. Maybe if they threw in a 3rd and a 3rd next year with the 31st and 35th picks.

Well, pick 35 is a 2nd rounder for one. Secondly, going by the NFL draft pick value chart:
pick 12= 1200 points
pick 31=600 points
pick 35=550 points
In the end we'd lose 50 points. That's about as close as they come.

I don't like this idea personally. I like who we could get a 12.
