while i wish no ill will on green and don't like to see any player get hurt, I'm sure we will hear chief fans whine about this hit that was very legal.

Absolutely. The pocket kept immediately collapsing, and Green was forced to run way too many times. A 37 year old quarterback can't keep rolling the dice by scrambling for first downs. Eventually your luck will run out, and his did.
Hopefully it isn't a serious injury.

They should have had an eye on the future! They have Casey Printers on their practices squad.....compare his career with Brett Elliott's resume', Im sure you will think differently.
The Chargers would be in a hum if they lost their starting QB too.....I dont know what that has to do with anything.

Jake Plummer has been sacked 4 times already....by the Rams! AFC West QBs are having a rough go of it in week one!

As a football fan, this is the kind of stuff you don't like to see, not these types of injuries where the player can't even move, regardless of the team. He wasn't moving at all aside from breathing for well over 10-15 minutes after the hit, but hopefully Trent isn't seriously injured.

I would've maybe used some of that cap space to get Green (a 37-year old) a new backup (Collins) or maybe get a T. Ty Law was definitely not priority 1 in their case... especially since CB is one of the only places they're good... with Surtain.

Spoken like a true homer!
We have cap space and two rookies as backups.....AND we didnt land Ty Law. What is so cool about that? I dont remember you worrying too much about that?
Do you think that Casey Printers is better right now than Charlie Whitehurst? Honestly?
That is their 3rd string QB VS our backup! Ty Law will cost less against their cap this season than our Right Tackle will!
I dont know what you and JC are talking about!
It would have been better to have Green go down and NOT have Ty Law on their team? That doenst even make sense!

Any loss of fire power for the Cheifs is going to end their season. Unless Green comes back healthy very soon, the Chiefs are done this year. Of course, they are still a division rival and are dangerous enough (at home) to give us some trouble.

Although a bitter rival, hate to see a starting QB go down in week 1. From what I saw, the hit was a cheap shot. Green was already mid-slide when the defender lowered his shoulder and drove Green's head into the ground.

I doubt there was anything the defender could have done. It game situations when you see a guy running at you, you get ready to hit him. It looked to me like he was already committed to bringing the boom.

I hope Trent Green is okay. Now, LJ can experience a more average OL, and he sees his streak of 100 yard games end.

Denver opened last year in Miami, and they looked even worse. But, they only lost two more regular-season games the rest of the year, so I wouldn't be counting them out yet. But, I would be concerned with Plummer's INTs (3) since he only threw 7 all of last year. With a QB rating of 26.3 according to ESPN, I wouldn't feel too comfortable with the QB of the future sitting on the bench, rookie or not.

He wasn't too classy when talking about Castillo last year. ;)

Having said that, I wish Trent well in his recovery. Losing your memory (as has been reported) is a major concussion and should lead to missing a couple of games should the Chiefs medical staff follow medical protocol.

I've played through a fog more times than I'd like in rugby, but I never had a loss of memory - even temporary.

It's a serious injury where for Green's health, he shouldn't play for a couple of weeks if the report is true about his losing memory.

saw this posted at gtp....

the Chiefs may have lost their regular season opener, but the team’s record certainly wasn’t the only thing on the minds of the players and staff. Sunday’s game was marred by a frightening head injury to Chiefs starting QB Trent Green, who was carted off the field after an 11-minute delay while doctors stabilized him for transport.

With Kansas City trailing 20-3 late in the third quarter, Green was doing everything possible to will the Chiefs back. The Pro Bowl passer scrambled from the backfield to pick up a first down, but as he went down into a hook slide, Bengals DE Robert Geathers dove and delivered a severe blow to Green’s head. Late word out of Arrowhead was that Green was at an area hospital and his condition was improving.

“Obviously a pretty severe head trauma, but he had all his senses and feeling in his arms and legs,” Chiefs President Carl Peterson said Sunday of Green’s injury. “Actually, when he did wake up he remembered every play except the one that knocked him out. He’s in the hospital right now, but the preliminary X-rays – and they did them of the neck and head – are all negative. So, we’re being very optimistic and hopeful.

“His family, including his wife Julie, is with him and we’re going to be cautiously optimistic that he’s going to be back, but he’s certainly got a headache right now.”

Green ripped Castillo after he was drafted. Luis made a point to go up to Green after the game where he collected the first sack of his NFL career against Green and cleared the air.

Castillo was definitely pumped to face Green in 2005.

Immediately after Luis Castillo was taken by the Chargers with the 28th pick of the NFL draft, current NFL players Mike Vrabel and Trent Green, serving as ESPN analysts for the day, ripped him as a cheat.

Losing 3 premier blockers, having your teams 2 primary receivers be in their thirties, and losing your QB tends to really hurt a back. having your defense suck usually doesn't help things either.
