Shouldn't this be on 2006 Denver Broncos. Oh well he isn't a bronco anymore.

Maybe he can get a job with the Raiders.... they could use another druggie kicker on their roster.

Why did they decide to release Sauerbraun?
It was money issue.
There is also a financial element involved in the Broncos' decision to retain Ernster and to release Sauerbrun.

A three-time Pro Bowl performer, Sauerbrun was scheduled to earn a $1.395 million base salary this season, although he forfeited $328,235 of that because of the suspension. His base salary for 2007 was to have been $1.5 million.

Ernster has a base salary of $275,000 this season and of $360,000 in 2007.

Sauerbrun, a 12-year veteran, said he knowingly took an over-the-counter weight-loss product this summer that he strongly suspected contained ephedra, which the NFL banned after the death of Minnesota Vikings (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=min) offensive tackle Korey Stringer (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3142) during training camp in 2001. Players are randomly tested and can be suspended after the first violation.
It was ephedra not steroids. Todd is a great punter and someone will be lucky to get him. I think his performance will be missed in Denver.

Why did they decide to release Sauerbraun?

Profootballtalk.com says that he served a 4 week suspension for testing positive to the banned substance ephedra, the weight loss supplement. :(

While he might not want to be a porky punter, I wouldn't exactly call him a "druggy".

He got the same suspension as Merriman for really using steriods. How is that?

Here we go. Can we preemptively ban all the broncos and chiefs fans until we win superbowl XLI? I have a prediction that they will be real pains in the ass for a while. :-/

The NFL has a list of all substances that are banned in the league. Ephedra and steroids are both on the list. The consequences are the same, no matter what the substance is.

Broncs have a rookie drug free punter who is playing well.

If we had someone who is drug free and is better than Merriman I'd cut Merriman.

I'd cut Merriman.

Which is why you're no where near an NFL front office.
