Based on this thread http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?p=2492685#post2492685 I see there is some interest for a seperate Padres Appearance and Autograph thread. There are so many different sources that it's good to have one place where most of the info is. I will only post confirmed signings on the 1st post. If there is a cost I will try to note it in the description. I will also try to bump the thread periodically and edit the 1st post so that it's current. Please delete some of your older posts so it isn't such a big thread and isn't so confusing. If you hear about anything please let us know and I will add it!

Here is thread # 1: http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=42142

Sweet! first one to post. So for the Kouzmonaff signing you have to pay $75 to get an autograph?

I attended the pre-game autograph session with the players and coaches from the 1984 Padres team on Saturday evening. The line for Steve Garvey & Dick Dent was very long so I decided to maximize my opportunities during the 45-min window and get as many autos as possible from the other people in attendance. In my opinion, the Padres should have scheduled the autograph session for at least 75-90 minutes to allow everyone enought time to go through all of the lines for all of the participants.

I landed multiple autos from Kurt Bevacqua, Greg Harris, Terry Kennedy, Tim Lollar, Kevin McReynolds, Mark Thurmond, Norm Sherry, and Ozzie Virgil.

It was a good signing for me too. I got Steve Garvey to sign my SI. Tip to all your theders out there. The Kobey swap Meet on Sports Areana has some good deals on autograph stuff. It's a hit or miss thing, but it's deffently worth it. For example that is were I got my Decco pen and Paint pens there. I got a thin sivler for 8x10s for a $1.50. So check it out

D and I headed out to the SDSU game in Irvine today in the off chance we might be able to land Strasburg one more time before he gets drafted. The game was great with Meredith hitting two HRs, Lavigne throwing a stellar game and the Aztecs winning 4-1 to continue on in the tourney. They quickly cleared everyone out from the stadium after the game ended to make preparations for the 8pm game, and we headed out to the outfield gate to see if we could catch Stras as the team left the field. There were quite a bit of people there, and Stras did come out with the rest of the team, signing sporadically along the way as he departed. D and I were lucky to get him on the last stop before his dad and a Boras henchman whisked him away for good. I got him on an official Rawlings NCAA ball with the 2009 CWS logo on it, which they were selling inside the park. I'll post photos tomorrow as the sunlight is better to photograph in, but all in all it was a great experience! Tomorrow is a bit tricky as my understanding is that the Aztecs will play the 4pm game, but will also play the 8pm game if they win the earlier one. So, it's a bit of a risk for anyone coming up from SD. But, good luck to anyone who makes it out tomorrow. At least you'll get to see some good collegiate baseball!

ummm...it was like $118 total, but it holds 43 balls, and is UV protected

loumud
06-01-2009, 01:00 PM
Scoot, you might want to consider putting the baseballs inside their own UV protective cubes inside the case as well. There are different levels of UV protection that companies use on their glass. This highest possible is around 98%, which I guess is called 'archival' or 'museum' quality. A dealer online told me that anyone who advertises 100% UV protection is full of crap! So, there still are some UV rays that get by. Plus, this type of glass is a lot more expensive, so if you paid $118 for your case the glass might not provide the maximum protection.

I had a case a while back that had UV protective glass on it, but a lot of my baseballs began to brown over time or the signatures started to fade. So, I got another case online, but I also put my baseballs inside their own UV protective cubes for added proection. I've had the case shown below for about 2 years now, and I haven't run into any issues with my baseballs getting damaged like they did with the previous case. Plus, the balls still display well even inside the cubes. Just some food for thought!

I'll answer several questions here. Yes, there is a Gates signed baseball that I got signed at the event at Horton Plaza 2 seasons ago. I actually asked him to sweetspot it, but something got lost in translation and he signed the side panel. It's ok though, since Gates has the tall signature and it might not have looked as good on the sweetspot after all. I got the LT baseball signed at the event this past December with CJ's and GTSM (thanks for the hook-up, Fred). In hindsight I don't know if I would pay that much for something like that again, but it's definitely something unique. I know some collectors on here aren't too keen on non-baseball players signing baseballs, but I think it's kind of cool. Plus, baseballs take up much less display room than footballs, basketballs, helmets, minis, etc. (there's also a baseball in my case signed by the 2007 #1 NBA draft pick Greg Oden and I have a couple others not pictured here signed by Simpson's creator Matt Groening with sketches on them).

The case I got I believe cost me $150 or $175 a few years ago. I bought it through www.sportsdisplays.com (http://www.sportsdisplays.com). They run periodic specials on their items typically around Father's Day and Christmas. I can't recall if my case has 97% or 98% UV protective glass or less, but I can say that since I put the baseballs in their own UV protective cubes inside the case I haven't had any issues with browning or fading. Also keep in mind that baseballs vary from ball-to-ball depending on the quality of leather. Some will stand up pretty well to UV rays, but others won't. Even if the cowhide is good you still run the risk of the auto getting damaged.

Buying the cubes retail will set you back some money. But, you can buy them in bulk from some sellers on ebay, which will save you at least $1 per cube (including shipping), if not more. Just make sure they are the UV protective cubes. The deals aren't that hard to find these days! Just don't want you guys to make the same mistakes I did early on in my own collecting career...

Here you go! Yes, I got both of these at Comic Con - one in 2007 and the other last year. Comic Con is really a mecca for getting celebrity autographs! I usually attend every year with my friend harrid4. Groening can be a little tough since he gets mobbed everywhere he goes, but we've been pretty lucky with him in the past...

Ditto, I racked on Prior during the first week of Spring Training. I usually go the first week to beat the crowds. I racked on the Padres, Brewers, Rangers, and A's camps. Didn't bother with the Royals or the Mariners. Next year, I plan to take the week off instead of 4 days.

I got Griffey ... in 1990 or 1991 at a local card show for $20 (which was a lot of money for me at the time). Sorry didn't mean to brag and it doesn't help but I still have it (UD Rookie Card). And no not for sale.

I have a great story as well! Back in the late '80s in Houston I attended a card show before an Astros game where Mickey Mantle was doing a signing. The auto tickets were $8 for any item, which was affordable even for me as a kid at the time. The line was taking a while, so we ended up leaving early before getting his auto so that we wouldn't be late for the game! At least you have something to show for your experience, Random...

You know what though, Jake is one of the most generous signer's. He signs everything put in front of him at signing's and he was a signing machine at spring training. He must be a collector as well. I am assuming the players who are the big signer's probably were collectors at one time as well...

sounds good. too bad they will probably cost a buttload. hope these guys dont ruin all of our free public signings in SD.

They seem to be somewhat better-priced than some of the other giants, like GTSM, Steiner and Tri-Star. But, I agree - I hope having a local autograph company now doesn't dissuade our local players from doing free signings in the future...

are they cheaper? or were they bringing in Peavy and Sproles at cheap prices to try and get people to know they are there. Im interested to know how much the others will be.

Sounds like Griffey Jr. dodge's the question - just like he treats fans/auto seekers in person! He didn't even acknowledge the kids at the park when I went to see him... I "was" a big fan since I was a kid - not any longer!

He has been like this his entire career. I remember being at the Kingdome as a kid and trying to get him before the game (inside and outside the stadium) in the early 1990s. He didn't acknowledge anyone. I probably tried over 10 times. At least he's consistent.

whats up with the questions about every single player, or halfway decent player for every single series? just go and try and find out. you never know who will sign on any given day. I have got both Tejada and Pudge while in SD. but they may not every day.

loumud

I made it out a couple of time during the series with the A's last weekend, and I must say that the A's are one of the best-signing teams that have ever come to Petco! Nomar was a bit tough, as always, but I did manage to get him once on the last day of the series. I also got the following players:
Jason Giambi X4 - 3 photos and 1 card
Kurt Suzuki X1 - photo
Trevor Cahill X4 - 3 photos and 1 ball
Brett Anderson X1 - sweetspot card
Adam Kennedy X1 - card
Matt Holliday X2 - 1 photo and 1 ball

Bobby Crosby, Cust and a lot of the other players also signed, but I didn't have anything for them (I wasn't there when Cust signed but I heard he was a real a$$). One thing I didn't know before was that Brett Anderson and Trevor Cahill were on the 2008 US Olympic Team in Beijing (along with Strasburg), and they're big pitching prospects right now. Otherwise, I probably would have gotten more items for Anderson to sign. Oh well...

I had an interesting experience today that I wanted to share with you all. I don't think I could have made up this story if I wanted to! Anyway, I went to the park today to try and catch some of the Dodgers before the game, and it was a total zoo with all the LA fans as expected. Of course Manny didn't sign, as did none of the bigger guys who took the sky bridge over from the Omni. I left dowtown before the gates opened, and decided to hit up my favorite wine and cigar bar in Old Town (Churchills).

As I was sitting there enjoying the downtime I heard a group of people at a table next to me talking. One gentleman at the table was talking about a fitness book he wrote, as well as some stories from his travels in Europe. I wrote him off as someone who was just bragging, but later in the conversation another guy pointed out the fact that the guy was the Guiness Book of World Records' record holder for the 'World's Fittest Man.' His name is Joe Decker, and he handed out some cards to the other people at the table, which looked like they were the size of official trading cards.

He also talked about how he has never taken any supplements, and how he turned down a $1 million offer from GNC in the mid-90s to promote growth hormones since it was against his ethics.

Anyway, I thought the cards looked pretty cool, but realized that I didn't have anything on me for him to sign one with. So, I ran to the car to pick up a sharpie before the guy left. I ran into him in line waiting for the bathroom, and apologized for eavesdropping earlier. I told him that I heard he was in the Guiness record book and asked for a card, which he kindly gave me. I also asked him to sign it which he graciously oblidged. We talked for a little while in line, and he should definitely also hold the world record for the world's nicest guy as well! He lives here in San Diego and now does a lot of work with children's organizations to promote fitness among kids.

Anyway, I included a scan of the card he signed for me (front and back). If anyone here does work with children's organizations, this is a great guy to get in touch with to help add some benefit to your cause (www.joe-decker.com (http://www.joe-decker.com)).

In parting, I'll share with you the items he had to do in order to gain the title of 'World's Fittest Man,' which are also listed on the back of his card. I now respect this guy's feat more than Michael Phelps' Olympic performance. Keep in mind that he did all these events within a 24-hour period! Truly one of the most inspirational people I have met in a long time:

Cycling - 100 miles
Running - 10 miles
Hiking - 10 miles
Power Walking - 5 miles
Kayaking - 6 miles
Swimming - 2 miles
Nordic Track - 10 miles
Rowing - 10 miles
Abs Crunches - 3,000
Push-ups - 1,100
Jumping Jacks - 1,1000
Leg Lifts - 1,000
Weight Lifting - 278,540 lbs.

Newguy24,

Not to be rude, but I think you need start going and experience the signings first hand. I know you been flooding the boards and PM'ing a bunch of people lately on how to get autographs. You can view the first page of the post for any new player appearances, call the Padres hotline, or sign up for signingshotline.com.

Again, not to be rude, but a lot of people (new and old) go to signings and post their experiences. If you're here to get information, I'd appreciate it if you can contribute to the board when you can.

No worries, just try and get out to the next signing. From there you can see what people do to get autographs. You can also meet other collectors that way and share your successess and failures. BTW, I did get Dave Roberts and Randy Jones yesterday at The Tilted Kilt. If you're underage, you can still get in and get their autographs.

I went to buy a nice graphics card as well as a 650W power supply at Fry's. It was an upgrade that I didn't want to do, but I felt it was warranted. I also ordered a 23" Dell ultra-sharp monitor with built-in webcam and microphone. Boo-hoo ... Santee's too far. Tell you what, sport - whether you live in Imperial Beach or Oceanside, Santee is a whole lot closer to you than it is to me - or the rest of us who would be happy to "only" need to drive 20 miles for our Padres ...

I went out to the Headley signing today and it was great. No one was there. I got there right at 11:00 and was gone by 11:30. He signed my game used bat and inscribed it as requested. He also signed a ticket stub and four cards for me. A class act as always.

I was at the Headley signing as well. I was right behind about 50 little kids. The whole process went fast and smooth. Chase Headley was a super nice, class act. Briefly talked to him about Knoxville, TN and UT. Got him to sign a shot I took of him rounding third on a spring traning HR (he said he didn't get to hit many of these in ST) and a photofile 8 x 10. Just a class act, glad he is a Padre.

B619,

I have a signed Rickey Henderson framed photo of his 3000th hit certified by Man of Steal Sports (MOS) that I can trade if you want.

I already have a bat and ball signed by him when he was with the Padres in 1996.

Let me know if you want it.

Well, once again Comic Con was a total success for autographs! Over the four days I managed to collect the following signatures:

- Julie Benz (Dexter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
- Ludacris (poster for upcoming movie)
- Jennifer Love Hewitt x2 (Ghost Whisperer cast photo + 8x10)
- Gene Simmons x2 (signed comic and Playboy)
- Comic Con 40th year anniversary book (various autos)
- Adam Baldwin x2 (8x10s of my favorite 'Full Metal Jacket' character)
- Todd McFarlane x3
- Various artist sketch cards

Of course there were other celebrities signing throughout the event, such as Megan Fox, Cameron Diaz, Rebecca Romijn, Elisha Dusku, etc. But, I would have obviously chased them too if I had known ahead of time that they would be there, or their lines didn't fill up so quickly. Everything was a total zoo around the Fox and WB booths throughout the weekend. I also saw Kasim Osgood there for a couple of days, and he was charging $10 per auto'd photo. But he got paired next to a couple of Playboy centerfolds, so there wasn't too much sales activity going on at his table!

Included in the book (in no particular order): Todd McFarlane (Spawn, Image co-founder), Matt Groening (Simpsons), Brian Pulido (Lady Death), Joe Quesada (Marvel Comics), John K (Ren & Stimpy), Sergio Aragones (Groo), Mark Silvestri (Witchblade), Joe Linsner (Dawn), Rob Liefield (Image co-founder), J Scott Campbell (Gen-13, Danger Girl), Billy Tucci (Shi), Kevin Eastman (Ninja Turtles), Mark Texeira (Ghost Rider, Wolverine), Jim Lee (Wildstorm founder), Doug Sneyd (Playboy), Adam Hughes (DC Comics, JLA), Dean Yeagle (Playboy), Will Stout (internationally renown artist), Joseph Silver (character artist), and Ben Edlund and Bob Polio (The Tick)
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll57/loumud/In%20Person%20Items/book-1.jpg

Artist Sketch Cards (in no particular order): Todd McFarlane (sweetspot card), Brian Pulido, John K, Sergio Aragones, Joe Linsner, Billy Tucci, Kevin Eastman, Mark Texeira, Matt Wagner (Grendel), Joseph Silver, Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows), Scott Shaw (artist for Hannah Barbera), Bill Morrison (Simpsons comics), and Ben Edlund (The Tick)

Me with Luda (and his 3 carat diamond earrings), and McFarlane signing my baseball. For McFarlane, I didn't specifically request an inscription, but he added 'HOF Never!' on it, which I thought was kind of cool. However, in hindsight I wonder if he was referencing himself never making the MLB HOF or Mark McGwire (which he paid $1 million for McGwire's 70th HR baseball!):

Hey bro,

No, she didn't give me a hard time at all. I first asked if she could take a photo with me, and she looked up to do so. Then I pulled out my photo and asked if she could sign it for me. I handed out a blue Sharpie, but she just took the photo without saying anything and signed it with the black Sharpie she was using. I was grateful, although the blue sharpie would have turned out much better. The black one she was using wasn't all that great, but I won't complain. The photo with her was most important for me this time around since I got another photo signed by her 2 years ago when she was at Comic Con with Inkworks. They were really strict about not taking photos with her at the previous event, so this one was a plus. She also smelled great when she got close to me for the photo!!

Fouts14, I might be interested in a couple of the items you have available, but my suggestion to you is to take photos/scans of all your items and set up a Photobucket account and post it so everyone can physically see what you have available. Otherwise you're going to waste a lot of time going back and forth with people requesting photos of your items, etc. Threaders who are extremely picky about their autographs (like myself) are going to want to see photos/scans of what you have and what condition the items/autographs are in before committing to a deal. Good luck, man!

Nope! He didn't stop and sign either of the 3 days on his way into the stadium, and I only saw him sign 1 item for a fan (he probably knew) during BP. I heard that he stopped and signed when he was leaving the stadium one evening, but that's about it...

boltpride has got a point. trevor has been an icon in san diego since his arrival in the early 90's. why do you think people were pissed when the pads pulled their offer to him? no matter how much attention mariano rivera gets, trevor IS THE BEST CLOSER in mlb history.

Come on now guys, we're all Padres fans so let's play nice. I'll admit niceaznguy21's remark was a little harsh, but his experience with Trevor is what it is. Nobody is entitled to enything in this hobby, but you have to admit that it wouldn't have been that much extra effort for Trevor to sign his item too - especially since there were only less than a handful of people out there and Trevor signed for everyone else (and also considering niceaznguy21 is only 16).

In any case, Trevor's career speaks for itself and that's why his auto is still in demand. As far as being the best closer in MLB history - that's up for discussion! Mariano Rivera isn't too far behind him, and he is probably the best big-game closer in history on top of that. I'm personally a Trevor fan myself, but I'll put good money down that when it's all said and done Rivera will be the all-time leader, on top of all the World Series rings he has won. Let the rebuttals commence!

Don't forget 2001 WS game 7 choke. How many times has Trevor shut down that d-backs lineup???? Alot.

I almost fell over laughing right now! Like I said before, I am a big Trevor fan. But in all seriousness, how many games has Trevor closed out to win the World Series, or a single World Series game for that matter? Not to mention the way he choked against the Brewers against TG Jr. back in 2007 to force that fateful playoff game against the Rockies for the Wildcard. I don't think any Padre fan was particularly pleased about that one. If a 'World Series saves vs. saves against the D-backs' is going to be the extent of the discussion here, I vote that we move onto other things, like talking about autographs again...

PadsNbucs
08-03-2009, 09:53 PM
Ewwww... I'll join the conversation.

No matter how many saves Rivera ends up with ( < or > than Trevor) he will be considered the best reliever in baseball. It is because of his clutch performances in the post season. Like it or not, that is what the baseball writers will consider when making the argument. Someone brought up a choke in the 2001 WS, but think of all the rings and appearances they have made beyond that... hands down, Rivera will be considered ther best closer in baseball.(Coming from a Trevor fan and east coast, large market baseball hater ; )

Unfortunately, Rivera wil probably considered the best ever by most...but don't forget, Trevor got the majority of his saves for some REALLY bad teams over the years, while the Yankees have been on or at the top for Rivera's entire career. Rivera's been dominant in the playoffs and World Series because he's been given the opportunity so many times. I'd be willing to bet that if given the opportunity (playoffs just about every year, as opposed to just '96 and '98 along with the Gwynn Jr debacle), Trevor's postseason numbers would be a HELL of a lot better than they are now.

My choice...Hoffman. Maybe I'm being a homer, but he's done a lot more with a LOT less around him.

So American Icon Autographs is promoting "the first time Tony Gwynn Sr. and Jr. are signing together" on the radio. Maybe in San Diego but I'm fairly sure they signed together at Frank and Sons a couple of years ago.

I was at that signing. I didn't get either of them. Rod Carew and Pete Rose were also signing that same day.

I got him recently, but don't make the mistake of thinking that just because he's a rookie that he'll be a good signer. I've only seen him stop once outside the park to sign (probably because he had a girl with him). He signs sometimes by the dugout before games, but if you're over the age of 10 he'll personalize it, including baseballs. He's simply not nice to older collectors. In fact, I think he personalizes everything except cards and photos smaller than 8x10. Outside he'll usually walk past and either not acknowledge anyone, or he'll say 'no and sneer at you. He was like this in the minors too, and I even heard a story about him getting into a bit of a physical altercation with a couple of persistent autograph seekers in San Antonio, though I can't say whether or not it's true. Some guys just don't like to sign, and that's ok too. But, I personally think he could learn a lot about how to treat fans from some of the other guys on the team like Eckstein, Headley and Venable. If anyone else has had a better experience with him, please share! But, these are my observations upon seeing him propositioned for autographs well over a dozen times.

who cares. after watching him in 2 practices, and this game, i have come to the conclusion that he is probably one of the most overrated players to get that much hype. supposedly hits a 570 foot homerun, but can only get an estimated 381 at petco in the late afternoon? and that was a generous 381 over the right field score board and not even in the first row.

Actually, after seeing Harper practice at USD a few days and with his performance at the game today, I can't say I'm overly impressed either considering the hype surrounding him. But, he did show some good qualities that I'm sure can be enhanced in the future, particularly incredible bat speed for his size and a great arm. My bro harrid4 overheard some scouts at the USD practices talking about Bryce, saying that is was his qualities that are most impressive to them, and that these have tremendous potential to grow into a lot more with proper coaching. I guess that's why they get paid to scout prospects and I just talk crap about what I see through the naked eye on a particular day! I'll post the spoils and loot from my efforts over the past few days tomorrow, but overall it was a great event this year - especially considering the bonus appearances from Steve Bedrosian, Ozzie Smith, Steve Garvey and Craig Biggio!

Yeah, Yordy Cabrera definitely impressed me with his raw strength winning the overall home run derby (at USD and again today), and I was also very impressed with Tony Wolters, who was awarded the game MVP. These are some guys we will undoubtedly hear about again in the near future!

Well, here are my spoils from the AFLAC All-Star game (and practices at USD). Bryce Harper was off-and-on about signing during the practices (mainly 'off'), but he did sign a bunch at the game itself on Sunday. Also, surprise appearances by Craig Biggio and Steve Garvey were a definite plus this year! I was able to complete 2 team custom photos (East and West) thanks to the wife [minus the coaches (intentionally) and Harper on the West photo], and also some individual photos from players who are expected to be drafted in the 1st round next year. The game itself was alright. Not a lot of power hitting, but most of the pitchers got their fastballs in low to mid-90s. Pretty good for some 16 and 17 year olds! The only thing I really missed getting was one of Harper's official Bowman AFLAC cards at the game, so if anyone has a mint copy of one, let me know and we'll work out a trade for something else! ;)

Garvey x2, Ozzie Smith x2, Biggio x2 (including the '91 Topps Desert Shield card), and '87 NL Cy Young Award winner Steve Bedrosian on an '82 Topps Traded card. Note: I also had the regular '82 Topps issued rookie card (which also included Brett Butler and Larry Owen) for Bedrosian to sign, but he said that it was the only card he refuses to sign on account of the photo on it being of someone else. He was really cool about it, but he said that the photo of 'him' on the card is merely a different photo of Larry Owen! So, luckily I had the other rookie card available for him to sign:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll57/loumud/In%20Person%20Items/aflac1_2.jpg

Bryce Harper x5 including the official SI and also a high-quality scanned print of the SI:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll57/loumud/In%20Person%20Items/aflac2_2.jpg

The only auto I wasn't able to get on my West team photo was Harper. I was one of the last people he signed for after the game on Sunday, but I noticed that he wasn't personalizing like he always does, so I opted to get a baseball on the sweetspot instead. It turned out really nice! I figure I'll be able to get him on the photo sometime in the near future. Besides the 2 team photos I also got Cabrera on a ball and photo, Cowart, Griffin, Bryant, Wilson and Sale on photos:

Hi everyone,

This isn't sports related, but it's cool nonetheless. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin (second man to walk on the moon) will be signing copies of his new book Magnificent Desolation and his new children's book Look to the Stars on September 5th at the San Diego Air & Space Museum at 11:00 am. This is a free signing with the purchase of a book, as have been the rest of his public appearances on the book tour. The 'free' part is key since Buzz usually commands $300 a pop to sign items at conventions! I kid you not. Anyway, the website states that he will not be signing any outside memorabilia, and this has been strictly enforced at his previous signings on the tour. I haven't seen any restrictions on the number of books you can get signed, but you can probably count on 1 or 2 per person if not more. I would highly recommend you guys take advantage of this rare opportunity as Buzz is getting up there in age!

Well, with the Padre's only having one more weekend home stand and Heath Bell scheduled to make that appearance, this season has been WEAK for Padre appearance's. I really hope this does not continue for next season. One would think that with the abysmal season the Padre's have had these last 2 seasons, the PR staff would get the players out into the community more often. With Peavy being traded(I felt he was the best appearance maker and signer on the staff) and Adrian going "Big Time", they need to promote these young guys more. Let's hope(yeah right) the Padre's PR staff read this and heeds our call... (reminds me of the time when I sent the Padre's an email telling them how bad their promotional give aways were and directed them to several other small market teams(tampa bay rays) and told them to start taking after them :D)

You're preaching to the choir, bro! I am definitely not a big fan of the Padres PR and Marketing Departments, and have been a long-time critic of them. I think the organization should first of all make it a requirement that any applicants for positions within those departments be actual fans of the game, which the people in them currently clearly are not! Though I don't think the Padres have 100% control over the appearances that players make out in town, I do think that the organization could have done a lot more to make yet another lackluster season a little more exciting for the fans somehow. Heck, more locals will probably cheering on the Nats next year with Strasburg than the hometown Padres themselves!

Let's see, It's on Signingshotline and advertised during Angels games and I am sure it will hit Sportsgraphing and Sportscollectors before the weekend if it hasn't been already.

Silver sharpies always suck! Go with a silver Decocolor paint pen (fine point) for most everything needing a silver autograph. For fabrics sometimes the silver Elmer's paint pens work better. You can buy either of these at Michael's, but check the Sunday paper for 40-50% off coupons.

Also, I know the mainstream for photos is to get glossy prints, but I am personally a big fan of matte finish photos. On these, the Sharpies or paint pens tend to 'catch' the medium better, and you get less of a splattering effect with paint pens when you need to use them...

Looks like their autographs are just like today's sports stars, unreadable and sloppy. LOL! I hope these guys milk this as long as they can. I read where one of the players will have a mural of himself on a school building.

Jeezus, even the kids are signing with their initials these days!! What's the world coming to???

You won't be the first...there's someone selling a team signed BB on ebay as well as single signed BB of Ramirez, Garcia, and others.

Who would pay money for a bunch of little kids' autographs? Although, they probably could beat this years Padres club. How pathetic!

the team signed ball was sold for $54 and the luke ramirez signed ball was sold for 10 bucks.

..and the seller's loss of dignity for peddling these items signed by the children - PRICELESS!!

Which one? I can access, so I'd be interested in knowing.

I hit up the Heath Bell signing. He was great. I went through the line a couple of times and ended up with 4 8x10s. As an added bonus a couple of the Chargers Girls were there signing their team photo.

Yes, since there are only 8 bases in the greater San Diego area, it would be helfpul to know which one they will be at and what time. Please share!

I heard on the BP show today that Randy Jones is going to be at the Mission Valley Ralph's this Saturday from noon - 2:00 promoting his BBQ sauce. In the past, these have been great events for getting Randy at without having to wait at all.

We got there to get some groceries, saw the sign and came back. It sounds fishy, but that's how the cookie crumbles. :-)
