While it doesn't look particularly good misspelling one of your own players names incorrectly, it's a mistake that many have made in regards to Mathews, fans and media included. Growing up and having the last name Matthews myself, I have learned this first hand haha.

It's too bad he doesn't have two T's, I could have a personalized jersey... well in a way.

It's a really easy mistake to make, considering most of us haven't seen Matthews spelled Mathews before. Picking that up would not only be hard for the person typing the article, but the person proofing the article, too. I'll bet Mathews has seen his named misspelled so many times, he quit correcting people.

When things like google exist, there is no excuse. And I would think someone who writes articles for chargers.com would possibly look around the rest of the site and see it spelled correctly, but who knows.

look what happens when you type ryan matthews in google....all the results are spelled the right way

And in the article all of the other names (besides Mathews and some UDFAs) are highlighted in blue/link to the roster page. Shouldn't the editor or whatever have noticed that?

They might as well give me the job if they're that incompetent

They corrected it.

I totally don't care they made a mistake. I just thought it was ironic cause a lot of us had made that mistake as well. Here's to getting a one of a kind jersey I guess?
