D had only a few lapses. See my secondary thread. Anyone not named Heyward isn't very good. I like Boston though. Offense being anemic for 3 quarters and bad ST's yet again are why we lost

They stunk it up nothing new, nothing special. Same play same crap calls on the field. Vanilla vanilla vanilla...

Okay, so Hayward had a nice fumble recovery. But he wasn't exactly stellar in coverage. He got burned twice, by my analysis. First one was at 1:34 of video below, when Thomas got separation on him for a big gainer:

Later, at 1:51, both Hayward and Addae got toasted by Sanders on another gainer for a first down. Hayward got juked, and Addae appeared to be going for another full-speed ahead kamikaze hit and whiffed, instead of slowing down a bit and taking a better angle for the sure tackle. On frame grab below, that's Addae on the inside (top) and Hayward on the right. Somehow, Sanders caught the ball, juked by both Addae and Hayward, crossed the field and got a first down. Our D needs to play a lot more disciplined than this, and I hope Lynn gave Addae an earful about his reckless style:

The best Offense is a good Defense.

re: Coach Lynn

I've liked his matter of fact style and his wanting to have a balanced offense, although 15 runs to 10 passes in the first half isn't exactly balanced. He did rightly point out that a run game takes a few weeks to get going because of the lack of physical reps in practice.

But his press conference yesterday concerned me. He said he watched the game film on the way home. Later he was asked what lessons the team learned from the game. He replied, "Coming out in the 3rd quarter I learned a lesson for myself. We were down 14-7 and let's reestablish the run game. Let's get back into a balanced offense. And I believe we passed the ball 6 straight times and went 3 and out both times. I can be more patient and stick to our plan."

Well, they began the 3rd quarter with 2 straight runs by Gordon, then the interception.

Their 2nd possession, down 21-7, in the quarter was 3 straight passes then a punt.

Did he not watch the tape, or not pay attention to the lesson he learned? Or is he trying to push a narrative of his power running game to the point of misinformation?

Worse yet, on 1st down, 11 of the first 12 were runs. Predictable much?
Just to emphasize:
1st quarter:
1st down: run
1st down: run
1st down: run
1st down: run
1st down: run
1st down: run

2nd quarter:
1st down: run
1st down: run
1st down: run
1st down: pass
1st down: run

3rd quarter:
1st down: run
1st down: run
Interception.
Down 21-7.

That more than anything is why we lost.

You're right that 11 of the 1st 12 drives began with a run. Unbelievable.

Not very balanced.

So the Broncos' coaches didn't see a pattern and stack the box on 1st down until they were up 14 points? Let alone know Lynn's blocking schemes for running plays from his past and prepare a poor run stopping defense so well that suddenly they stopped the Chargers cold?
