Despite that, Rivers has put up better numbers in his career.

I could see an argument for another class grad, Big Ben, as being the better QB (although I may disagree with that when all is said and done), but I can't see how Eli is the better QB. Even just based on feel, I wouldn't go with that, but if anyone's a numbers guy, then here's some numbers to back it up:

Eli Manning:

Completion % - 59.9
Passing yards - 49,552
Touchdowns - 328
Interceptions - 220
QB Rating - 83.9

Philip Rivers:

Completion % - 64.3
Passing yards - 47,198
Touchdowns - 323
Interceptions - 161
QB Rating - 94.5

Keep in mind that Rivers didn't even start his first two years* in the NFL, so he doesn't have as many passing yards, and barely has less than Eli in TDs thrown -- which should change by the end of this year.

*Rivers played in 4 games total, in garbage time.
no Wins-Losses comparison?
what about super bowl rings?

What a legacy Eli will have. Rivers may have the stats but to say you struck Goliath down and out by throwing the winning touch down in their 1st Super Bowl win and then to beat him a second time speaks volumes to me. Granted it is a team game but Eli gets the edge over Rivers by accomplishing just that at the highest level twice. Who would of thought that Eli would do that in the annals of NFL history. I'd think Brees or Rodgers had a better chance but no it's Eli's legacy. As much as you hate it, it is what it is.

Rivers has now tied Eli with 334 career TD passes, 7th best all time.

He has more TDs and fewer INTs than big Ben.

Rivers is the better QB of that class. Rings are won by complete teams, and both Eli and Ben were fortunate enough to play for prestigious franchises who constantly put together great teams and hire legit coaches.

If, and it's a big if, Rivers is able to win a ring with the Chargers, then there is no argument at all against Rivers being the best of the three.

Crazy. I know a lot of us Chargers fans despise Eli, but he deserves better than this.

Does the fact that Rivers doesn't have a ring mean Ben and Eli will go into the HOF before he does?

Oh no he doesn't.

False.

Absolutely incorrect.

Seeing this news made my day.

Signed,
A fan of no Manning ever.

Of course... I think Rivers will get in eventually ala previous quarterbacks who had the career stats in total yards and touchdowns thrown. Dan Fouts and Dan Marino from the class of 83 are examples. Although Marino made a Super Bowl appearance early in his career. Fouts competed in two AFC Championships. Be nice to see Rivers lead a team to a Super Bowl.

Kudos to Eli and Ben for leading their respective teams to the Super Bowl. These guys made big time pressure throws on the highest stage. No one can take those championship moments away from them.

The Giants are tanking to get one of the top picks. Denver is at 3 wins. SF is at 1 and just got Jimmy G so they may not be drafting a qb. That leaves Cleveland and Ny. Cleveland will definitely go qb and Ny will too. They want at least the 2nd pick.
