John doesn't wait too long like his father to fire a coach.

The back to back losing seasons did it. Mccoy had an excuse the first time. He wasn't fortunate again.

McCoy was a terrible HC.....surprised it took this long for them to recognize it.

McCoy got this team to the playoffs his first season, despite Norv's proclamation that the team was years away, and won a playoff game. Truth is we thought we had a good HC after his first season. Next year was another 9-7 year - no improvement but no playoffs - perhaps he could turn it around. Then came last year where it seemed that a lineman went down every quarter. Personally wanted to get rid of him then - but it could be interpreted that after consecutive 9-7 years the 4-12 was an anomaly due to injuries. That left his career in the balance this year - was it the 9-7 years that were the norm or last year? Were the injuries the reason for the decline or was it the fact that the team was fading under McCoy. Well - guess we found out this year.

One of the game tv announcers said it best this week. I am paraphrasing:

"McCoy gets a slight edge because of the injuries the last 2 years. But at the end of the day it IS a performance based job."

Very well put. Sums it all up.

John Spanos was named President—Football Operations for the Chargers in May 2015. He oversees all of the team’s football operations, including player personnel, coaching, player finance and the salary cap, medical, equipment, video, player engagement and security. He also represents the team at all league and management council meetings.

Drawing from his scouting experience, Spanos has seen his role in the NFL Draft grow exponentially since his ascension in 2013 and the results have been overwhelmingly positive. The team’s 2013 draft yielded three key starters: tackle D.J. Fluker, linebacker Manti Te’o, and wide receiver and Pepsi Next NFL Rookie of the Year Keenan Allen. The 2014 draft class saw four of the six players the Chargers selected make the team’s opening day roster, and the 2015 class is full of promising talent, headlined by running back Melvin Gordon, winner of the 2014 Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top running back, and runner up for the 2014 Heisman Trophy.

It seems we have gotten worse as a franchise with every promotion John has been given. It's just my opinion but the heart of the problem is John. Unfortunately, he'll never be let go so we look to be in trouble for some time to come.

You treed your own thread. When it comes to the issues with this team he is the Alpha and the Omega.
