Default Broncos Sign Von Miller

6yr/$114M

Big money for one of the best in the game.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/16...r?sf28235250=1

But Miller says no, not now...

So, he's playing under a tag, and the article says there's "no agreement in sight".

Wonder how much he actually wants?

Oh, and First!!!!!!!!

Do you think he actually will get more on a per year basis, or is the hold up about guaranteed money ?

Has to be.... hes probably holding out for 60 million guaranteed....hate to say it but maybe they should let him walk. They can spread 40 million in guaranteed money over the first 4 years of his contract to make it like 60 million. If thats not good enough....adios. he would be getting paid as much as rivers per year....

I dunno. My guess would be the guaranteed part. But that's just a guess.

I would have considered this crazy talk a few years ago, but strategically, makes sense.
if you WERE to spend that much on a non-qb it would be a passrusher at the level of miller and in his prime, but there are some serious draw-backs to investing THAT much into any one player.
plus the history with the molly, just saying, theres added risk to consider.

"superbowl runs" have to financially line-up with what you have, and currently there are no franchise QBs on their roster imo.

with regards to the stalled contract talks... I tend to believe that negotiations are typically stalled because of the guaranteed money.

Assuming they go all in on Lynch, they have to make sure they continue with their dominant defensive play. Young Qbs only thrive under great defensive play until they find their stride. The biggest plus to signing a passrusher for that much money in his prime is the amount they are saving on Lynch's contract because hes a rookie. He'll be making pocket change for 4 years. They can, in my opinion, afford to pay a passrusher like a QB because they save so much on the QB side.

Isn't Miller from Texas?

I'll bet Jerruh will pay him what he wants, if he has to walk out on the field himself and axe 6 players to do it.

Looks as though he'd get $55.5M guaranteed if he completes the next 3 years under the Franchise Tag. That probably caps the guaranteed $ as he's 27 and that would take him through until 30. If you're Elway (shudder) you probably think you can reduce your risk using the FT vs. giving him $60M guaranteed. The FT takes you through his turning 30. If not injured, he's still better than most LB's in the league - but is he worth PR kind of $ until he's 33? Probably not.

That being said Elway seems to have a definite number in mind for each player (Osweiler, Jackson, Trevathan, Orlando Franklin, Pot Roast, Julius Thomas) and if they don't want to take the Denver Discount they are let go. Kinda sounds like a GM that used to roam the halls in San Diego, first name rhymes with "AJ".

How many Superbowl's did you play in and how many did you win with AJ?
