this was supposed to be a Brees v Rivers debate and of course it devolved into Norv v Marty. Now that Norv has "resigned" maybe we bring he and Marty back together.

More specifically an '06 Rivers vs '06 Brees debate, which quite honestly is no debate.

Truthfully a Rivers vs Brees debate in any specific year, or in their career as a whole, is really no debate.

It can be summed up short and sweet: if you had the ball on the 25 yard line with less than 2 minutes (and no timeouts left) and needed a TD to win, who has a (WAY) better chance of pulling it off ? On the flip side, who would the opposing team's defense rather face in that situation ?

I won't be there.

Count it as one more thing LT has had taken away from him.

If anyone else had picked off that pass, we probably would have won the Super Bowl. So what?

“If Drew had been our quarterback [in 2006], we would have won the Super Bowl. There were a lot of circumstances that were in play — obviously, Drew’s injury right at the end of the (2005) season and the front office wasn’t willing to make the (financial) commitment to keep him.

“Philip hadn’t played enough to get it done at that time.”

LT might have a point, as it is true that Rivers was a rookie starter at that time. Still, with all the turnovers we had that day, no guarantee that Brees gets it done either.
LT forgets that Marty was the coach who had a history of not doing well in the playoffs. Marty was a great regular season coach but wasn't able to get his teams to play their best in the play offs. Even if Brees would have been the QB in 2006 the team would have probably still lost in the play offs with Marty.

We could have won a few SB's if LT wasn't watching them from the sideline with a **** on his face.
