Sorry, not enough time or desire this year. Having a hard enough time making an effort for the LAme Chargers as it is.

So the questions involve Tourek, Melvin, Emanuel, Perry, Landrum and our draftee.
No jags allowed.

Who are 43 DEs ?
Who can lean up, defend the forward pass, tackle, pursue, and play OLB ?

I AM, if I understand your vision correctly, Jatavis is our SAM, due to coverage skills with some flipping ?

Would you mostly play 43 Over or 43 Under ?

Without adding any new bodies, I think the Over fits our personnel a little better with Bosa as the 6T SDE and Ingram as the LEO. In other words, currently our 3rd LB is better than our 3rd DT IMO.

If we add another quality 2 gapping DT to play the 4T DE then I think we could be really good in the Under as well with Bosa as LEO and Ingram as SAM.

Strategically though, I'm not sure which is a better matchup against our division offenses.

I would like to be able to do both. The Raiders, Chiefs, and Broncos play offense in completely different manners, especially in blocking schemes.

Ingram at SAM ? You had me working on Jatavis at SAM. We will now create some interesting defensive looks. I just want to use people well, and keep Jatavis from getting banged up.

Is Tu'ikolavatu strictly a 0Tech? Who has the length to play that 4Tech, Lissemore? It's back to that problem of having all these DTs who are similar to each other in what they play best, ie 1Gap.

Again, Dalvin Tomlinson is slotted for us right there at 71.

Ingram at SAM in the Under bc the role is similar to a 3-4 OLB with the SAM standing up on the LOS responsible for the edge vs the run.

In the Over I think Brown would be SAM.

I think it's valid to point out who he is surrounded by and what gameplans opposing O coordinators went with, but just looking at what he CAN do, it's very impressive.
Allens quickness is comprable to Aaron Donald, not saying he's there but I think they're both quick to either beat their guy or slide right by them.
He's definitely an interior guy who I want to put next to Bosa

Soloman's traits are just so impressive that it's easy to project him as a dominant DE in a more traditional 43 (not Gus' Seattle over/under)
I think it's going to take some internal motivation from Soloman to want to improve his awareness and so far nothing I've read about him makes me believe he isn't ready to take the next step

So at this point it's like both have about the same ceiling with allen being the more nfl ready
Neither are perfect immediate fits but the important part is that the upside is there for the molding.

Btw soloman looks solid in run defense and schematically it would be nice to have the edges secured by him and Bosa and funnel the RBs right into the middle where peryyman can say HELLO!
Good responses all around... and I am glad that so many of you think Allen is a monster no matter who he lines up with. That being said, I like this response to my post the most because it alludes to the possibility that we will be lucky to have either one of them. Having an incredibly stout front-4 is probably the most important characteristic of an outstanding defense... and whether we had Allen lining up next to Bosa or Thomas on the other end... the Bolts could be well on their way towards the stifling defense we have lacked for so many years.

Bump.

As you can see we did not draft any linebackers.

Don't be surprised if we put Rayshawn at WILL in one look.
Emanuel/Perry can play SAM in some looks.

Jatavis in most looks.

Then there are sub packages, which will occur well over 50% of the time.

Great, informative posts here, including images, by I AM.

Look for a,veteran FA or two, post draft, to fill specialized defensive roles.

Don't be surprised if we end up in a 425 or 44 look most the time...
