Chargers Finalize 2017 Broadcast Team and Station Affiliates
Friday, July 28, 2017 1:16 PM PDT

The Los Angeles Chargers today announced the radio affiliates for the 2017 season as well as the television affiliates to broadcast Chargers preseason games and ‘Access Chargers,’ a weekly show providing fans with in-depth access and coverage of the Los Angeles Chargers.

In addition, the Chargers announced that KFI-AM’s Kris Ankarlo and Shannon Farren, AM570’s Beto Duran and NFL Network’s Alex Flanagan will join the Chargers broadcast team in various roles.

Chargers radio broadcasts throughout the season will be able to be heard across nine radio stations from Southern California to Nevada. Fans can listen in English on KGB-FM and KLSD-AM (San Diego), KNWZ (Palm Springs), KNWH-FM (Yucca Valley), KRLV-AM (Las Vegas), KRAK-AM (Victorville/Hesperia), KATY-FM (San Bernardino) and KPLY-AM (Reno). Spanish broadcasts can be heard on XHFG-FM (San Diego).

The Chargers iHeart Radio broadcast team will now include Farren reporting from the sideline, joining Matt “Money” Smith on play-by-play and Nick Hardwick as the color analyst. Farren is a day-time host of the highly-rated Gary & Shannon show on KFI-AM in Los Angeles. Ankarlo, a broadcast and digital journalist who serves as a reporter for KFI-AM, will provide analysis and host pre-game, halftime and postgame shows for the radio broadcast.

Throughout the week leading up to the game, Duran will provide in-depth reporting on the Chargers for iHeartMedia stations in L.A., and serve as the host of AM 570’s Chargers Talk on gameday. Duran is a popular bilingual sports broadcaster who has covered Southern California sports since 2005 for outlets such as ESPN Radio and Spectrum SportsNet, including reports for the Los Angeles Lakers Spanish broadcast team.

Los Angeles Chargers preseason games and ‘Access Chargers’ will be broadcast by a total of nine television affiliates across California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. Television stations include KLAS (Las Vegas), KBAK/KBFX (Bakersfield), KGMB (Honolulu), KSWT (Yuma/Imperial Valley), KMIR (Palm Springs), KGPE (Fresno) and ABC4 in Salt Lake City. In San Diego, KFMB will carry preseason games vs. Seattle (Aug. 13) and at San Francisco (Aug. 31), while CW San Diego will broadcast the preseason game vs. New Orleans (Aug. 20) as well as ‘Access Chargers’ for the 2017 season.

Flanagan joins the preseason television broadcast team of Spero Dedes and Dan Fouts as the sideline reporter. Flanagan has been with the NFL Network since 2006, has covered eight Super Bowls and five Olympic Games. In addition, she previously served as the sideline reporter for the Chargers and Notre Dame football games, as well as a reporter for NBC’s Football Night in America.

Chargers Announce Multi-Year Broadcast Agreements with KABC-TV, iHeartMedia Los Angeles, KAZA-TV Azteca America 54 and KFWB 980 AM
Wednesday, April 26, 2017 9:59 AM PDT

The Los Angeles Chargers have agreed in principle to multi-year television and radio agreements that will make KABC-TV, iHeartMedia Los Angeles, KAZA-TV Azteca America 54 and KFWB 980 AM the team’s official flagship English and Spanish language broadcast partners.

The Chargers will take their ‘Fight For LA’ to the airwaves and collaborate extensively with each flagship in developing a wide range of content, including preseason games, exclusive shoulder programming, behind-the-scenes shows, news features, community events and promotions. Overall, the Chargers will be offering up nearly 400 hours of programming on an annual basis across the four TV and radio flagship stations.

“We strive to provide Chargers fans with the best experience in every way possible,” said A.G. Spanos, Chargers President of Business Operations. “Whether it’s on-field performance, in-venue experience, season ticket member service or, in this case, unparalleled television and radio access throughout the LA region, placing a premium on our fans and their relationship with us is of the utmost importance. These partnerships only serve to enhance this priority. We are proud and excited to welcome KABC-TV, iHeartMedia Los Angeles, KAZA-TV Azteca America 54 and KFWB 980 AM to the Chargers family.”

KABC-TV (ABC7) is the West Coast flagship of the ABC television network. The most-watched television station in Southern California, it is also the first local station in the United States to surpass two million Facebook followers. As the Chargers flagship English-language broadcast television station, KABC-TV will televise all preseason games available to air in Southern California along with pre and postgame shows for those telecasts. Additionally, KABC-TV will air two weekly Chargers series in Saturday evening primetime during the football season as well as weekly Chargers news features throughout the year.

As the Chargers’ flagship English-language radio partner, iHeartMedia Los Angeles will air all preseason, regular season and postseason Chargers games on KFI AM-640 – No. 1 in news, talk and sports in LA, Orange County and San Diego. In addition to game broadcasts, KFI AM-640, Alt 98.7 and AM 570 LA Sports will broadcast 10 hours of gameday coverage. iHeartMedia Los Angeles’ eight radio stations will also support the Chargers with year-round programming and promotional content, including a weekly Chargers series that will air on AM 570 LA Sports during the season. Listeners can also hear the stations’ broadcasts via iHeartRadio, iHeartMedia’s all-in-one digital music, podcasting and live streaming radio service.

KAZA-TV Azteca America 54, which first signed on in Los Angeles in 2001, will serve as the Chargers flagship Spanish-language television station. In addition to televising all preseason games available to air in Southern California, KAZA Azteca will offer pre and postgame shows for the preseason games as well as a weekly Chargers series throughout the season and Chargers news features throughout the year.

KFWB 980 AM, housed under the Lotus Communications umbrella, will serve as the Chargers flagship Spanish-language radio station. As is the case with its English-language counterpart, KFWB 980 AM will broadcast all preseason, regular season and postseason Chargers games, including pre and postgame shows. The station, which dates back to 1925 and was the first to broadcast the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA, will also air a weekly Chargers series throughout the season.

It's good to know that Beto Duran is joining the broadcast team now. I really enjoyed watching his boxing matches with Sugar Ray Leonard in the 1980's.
