This place doesn't seem as loosey goosey as it used to be. I guess the mods tightened things up a bit.

Okay, so I just laughed harder than I have in years.

I'm not scared of bugs/spiders/etc. But my brother sure as heck is -- to a comical level. And my sons seemed to have inherited this bugophobia gene.

So I go out to put a slow drip under my pear tree, and my flash light glints off a very large (beautiful) spider web. Strung between my deck stairs and my apple tree. And with a nice, good sized spider in the middle of it, waiting for breakfast(?).

So I turn my light in other directions, and see several more webs, including with some MONSTER spiders. Like OMG, please-tell-me-I'm-not-sharing-my-yard-with-that-beast spiders. . .

So I go back inside, and grab my bog-ophobic 21-year-old, and ask him to come and take a pic of a couple of them. I'll shine the light, and he take the pic. Well I decide, with spider #1, to hold my finger up near the center of the web that the dude is occupying, to add some scale. While my son's phone is focusing, the spider senses my finger, thinks it's food (or maybe just gets pissed) and goes after my hand at light speed. At this point I crap myself, yell like a 7 year old girl, my son does the same, and we both take off running in the pitch dark, hitting more webs on the way back to the back door.

Oh my gawd, my sympathetic nervous system caused me to void my bowels, increase my heart rate to abut 250, break a cold sweat -- and laugh my butt off. Especially when I saw my son running at Olympic speed and crapping himself worse than I was.

Now my sides are seriously sore. Such a good laugh.

(Hopefully my son will relax from his full-fetal position in time to take fluids or maybe even food tomorrow).

The man, the myth, the legend is gone at 91.

Were they forced to pose at gunpoint?

I pretty sure most if not all of Hef's models were rewarded with lucrative paychecks, endorsements, travel, fame, the works. Exploited?

Norma Jean is laughing somewhere.

Besides, I only read it for the articles. Literary brilliance.

The women were the resource that Hefner exploited to make his magazine a sought out item, which made him quite wealthy. Yes the women were rewarded....TB is just trying to make it sound like being exploited is a bad thing, which it can be, but wasn't in this case so it appears.

My teenage self would like to thank Hef for "exploiting" women and for his exploits. I had occasion to visit the mansion a couple of times but well past it's hey day. Quite the experience still
