Default There's a paywall, but for those who subscribe to The Athletic ...

Sam Fortier has a great article on PR's evolution the past couple of years.

Word PMR8fan. Hence my saying they like to plan naturally

Rivers is a Super Bowl Champion when it comes to his life off the field. Congrats on adding to your family the right way unlike the stories we hear from time to time.

Snippets from Peter King's part of the podcast w/ Chris Hayre. Good stuff.

"Just listen to Philip Rivers for 26 minutes on my podcast...and I'm not really trying to promote my podcast I'm really not. I'm simply saying that if you listen to him and don't come away thinking I wished at one point in my life I could of played on an athletic team with that guy. I think your nuts. He's everything that's good about sports and everything that's unselfish about sports."

On the stadium...3 years ago.
"It was coming down to the choice of the voters in San Diego and Philip Rivers was passionate about why the stadium should be built. He was really full of passion that day. But then...we're in training camp in Costa Mesa now they are the Los Angeles Chargers and he talks evangelically about how great it's going to be in Orange County and in LA. And he means it! He's not phony-ing up at all. He's just a really fun human being and a good passionate guy and that's the guy I want to be the quarterback of my team that I root for."

Rivers says we live in a self-centered culture.

I would agree. I am so glad to have a guy like Rivers lead the Chargers. Here is a guy that you could run a live mic'ed up and not worry about the censor button. As a fan I never have to worry about him going Kareem Hunt and embarrassing the franchise or costing the team wins due to selfish off the field antics. He is a great leader in the clubhouse too. Listen to how the teammates speak about him and compare that to how the Stealer players talk about Ben. I am glad to have Rivers on the team I root for.
