SBB, I think we can respectfully disagree about how to draft. I see MIKE as a bigger need than 3Tech. It is recognized that you and many others see it differently.

Again Philon stole snaps away from him, even before he got injured. He also played more as the season went on. Just also happened to be the defense started playing better. Not all on Philon but he was part of that formula.
Philon is great as a role player so far. I don't know if he can take over for Liuget full time yet.

As for cutting him and finding someone in FA who will be decent at a lower price tag, I don't know if you're going to get someone less than $10 million. It's just the going rate for starting DLs these days.

Vea at 17 would be sweet. Big guy with good hips and high motor. I think he’d be a good anchor

There were quite a few games where Philon played more snaps than Liuget. Thatís what Iím getting at. Either that or he essentially split right down the center with Liuget. Also Iím Sure weíd be able to find a decent run stuffer who plays 1st/2nd downs at less than $10 a year. We essentially paying Liuget $10 million a year to be a part time player, i find that very hard to justify. And yeah, Liuget May be the starter but thatís by title. Again Philon ended up playing more snaps than Liuget as the season wore on. The other games he split with Liuget. This happened about 4 games into the season.

If you wanna call Philon a role player, whatís Liuget? Because he definitely is not a full time starter.

Edit
https://www.pro-football-reference.c...nap-counts.htm

Liuget played 415 snaps or 39.6% of all the defensive snaps while missing four games

https://www.pro-football-reference.c...0/fantasy/2017

Philon played 509 snaps or 48.57% of all the defensive snaps while playing all 16 games
https://www.pro-football-reference.c...1/fantasy/2017

So looks like after game 1 we saw more and more of Philon playing. Even before Liuget got hurt he was still playing quite a bit.

Membane played the most snaps at 535 for the season

Before the season started
limiting Liuget's snaps was on the front burner.

Too many red flags for me for Vita... I would not have him in my cluster...

Yep he started losing snaps even at the tail end of 2016. Either way $10 million got a part time starter is a no go for me. Rather cut him and use that money on brining back Boston, extending Trevor Williams, Hayward etc.
