Feel good to give another direction at this thread.
No way Watkins play starting S next season.
He is only depth and ST.

hmmmmmm......not positive about "no way". He saw action in 12 games last year......if Boston is gone, FS is wide open right now. Remember, Watkins saw action (non-starter) in 12 games last year on a Superbowl winning defense.

We have flexibility now in the Draft.

There are lots of speedy Combo Safeties, up and down.

Most of them are lacking in one or another Free Safety skills, such as reading, diagnosing and having loose hips for coverage.

There will be several of them available in the middle rounds, TTs comfort zone.

Let's see what Gus Bradley can talk TT into.
or how 'bout one of ye' olde converted CBs ?? !! i.e. Mr. Tony Brown.... like Brandon Facyson for our secondary as well,

Versatile depth signing, (plays corner and safety) which is smart. Wonder if Mager makes it out of camp this year...he will have to take the next step if he wants to stay. Unless your moving King or Verret to FS, the corner group is getting awful crowded.

I don't believe he is our solution to the FS issue...

I've wondered some about who plays in nickle & who is a single deep FS. Our DB group is kinda interesting. King is a good FS prospect.

Think like TT.

Hayward was previously promised a chance to play on the outside.

Conclusion. We are rolling with Jaylen.

His 20 yd shuttle time is really slow to be a successful CB. Fits as a S IMO, probably an effective FS for us.

Ultimately, we really just need someone who is smart and in position. Boston's stat line was sexy but he allowed a lot of deep passes... Including obvious ones where they isolated one of the fastest players in the NFL against our injured CB and he STILL provided no help over the top.
