Draft order...

I was wondering about draft order picks in a PPR league where you don't have a computer select your order.
The guys I assisted with their order were all wanting the 10 pick, is this because there are no players head and shoulders over the others?
I also suggested that if you are drawing out of a hat, instead of going 1-10 or 10-1 how about letting the first name pick his spot, then the second and so on.
