My blood pressure would be so much lower if we stopped using Benjamin on punt returns...

Also, props to Kaser, he was excellent today. A lot of pressure on him after the Raiders game and he is still a kid.

Benjamin should never line up to return a punt under any circumstance. Just don't even have anybody back there if it comes down to it.

We need a new ST coach. No awareness at all and the positions of the players on the on side kick was horrible. Not one Charger within 5 yards of recovering the football. Horrible stuff.

And that was after a timeout

There were some positives on STs too...

Lambo 4-4 on FGs, no mistakes, no misses - to go along with 6 kicks into the end zone on 6 attempts. Also on kick offs, kept them inside the 20 one 1 attempt to run it out, and to the 25 on the other.

Kaser, no bad punts, pinned Donks deep on one crucial punt that ended up with a safety on the series, averaged 47 yards/punt and over 44 net.

McCluster - one great punt return to midfield and caught every punt he was in on, with positive return yardage. Chargers have a punt returner now (granted that ** _never_ goes back to return a punt again).

No penalties on special teams.

The really ugly - only having 3 guys going against 4 on the onsides kick after the (stupid) time out - 2 guys trying to block 4, allowing the 4th to sprint untouched to where the ball was and recover it

The "what was he thinking" - poor OL trying to field the free kick, when 3 guys are coming up behind him with good hands. Note to Wiggins - next time go past where the ball is going to land and block someone, giving your hands guys time to field the ball...

agree that this is an issue.
wouldn't be surprised to see MM scapegoat yet another coordinator
well, after he gets his head out of his hands.

Strangest thing I've seen when it comes to special teams.

Jacoby Jones and Travis Benjamin were both top-shelf returners. Then we bring them in , and it's crap-your-pants-bad immediately upon arrival.

Zero surprise with JJ - past his time...

In **'s case - for whatever reason, running skeered... and it isn't just on STs. Maybe it's the amount of teammates falling like flies

In looking at his time as a Brown, he had 6 fumbles in 65 punt return opportunities, of which 26 were fair caught. That's a fumble every 6.5 attempted returns... Maybe running scared of fumbling (no doubt it was discussed before the season, "You can NOT do that HERE!") and thus unwilling to take a chance.

As far as when McCluster replaced Benjamin, he had a great return. To the 50. Benjamin needs to stop letting the ball bounce in front of him. It has happened alot. Novak was perfect. His kickoffs were great.

The surprise of the game was Kaser. He pinned the Broncos. No shanks. He stepped up this game. Even taking some licks.

Overall grade on everything is a C+-B.
Yes......Kaser redeemed himself extraordinarily well tonight.

I put my torch and pitchfork back in the shed till the Falcons game.

Well that could explain it. All we see are the highlights -- when they bust one. And he certainly had some highlights!

But if the Chargers knew of that history, then why the heck do they have him back there? Especially when we are running more-than-a-little-bit-low on WRs?

Uggh. I suppose it's the same reason we have had Kaser holding for FGs.
