It would be good for your brain to try and focus on a full article as opposed to the headline

The article is about NFL quarterbacks. I'm not the least bit surprised Bryant wasn't mentioned.

I'm happy the Chargers drafted the better QB -- or, er, traded for the better QB in Rivers.

Aside from a small window of time, Rivers hasn't had the coaching and supporting cast that Manning has.

Despite that, Rivers has put up better numbers in his career.

I could see an argument for another class grad, Big Ben, as being the better QB (although I may disagree with that when all is said and done), but I can't see how Eli is the better QB. Even just based on feel, I wouldn't go with that, but if anyone's a numbers guy, then here's some numbers to back it up:

Eli Manning:

Completion % - 59.9
Passing yards - 49,552
Touchdowns - 328
Interceptions - 220
QB Rating - 83.9

Philip Rivers:

Completion % - 64.3
Passing yards - 47,198
Touchdowns - 323
Interceptions - 161
QB Rating - 94.5

Keep in mind that Rivers didn't even start his first two years* in the NFL, so he doesn't have as many passing yards, and barely has less than Eli in TDs thrown -- which should change by the end of this year.

*Rivers played in 4 games total, in garbage time.

Rivers after tossing 3 INT's in a game: There dadgumit. Let's see 'em beat that.

Big Ben: Hold my beer.

I watched that game during Chargers commercials. Ben was just awful.
He said after the game "Maybe I just don't have it anymore."

I was shocked, but remember: This summer he talked retirement and the Org. begged him to come back.

Now they are AT KC.

Whew. A toughie.

I think he's over the culture there.

(Maybe I've been listening to too much Cowherd on my morning drive to work.)

Maybe Eye don't have it anymore. SMH.

I do have a distinct recollection of Big Ben being my favorite of the Big Three, QB Class of 2004.

Mobility. Pocket awareness. Size. Arm. Production. Albeit he was Sammy Small School.

Big Ben has been killing it since that 5 INT meltdown against the jags when he said maybe I should retire.

Rivers had his best game of the season after going into self-reported concussion protocol.

Maybe these guys needed to feel like the end was near to get back into the groove.
