Thanks for the notification. I looked at this forum and thought I must have lost my marbles -- how did I never see this? I checked the OP expecting it to be a bump of a post from years ago. Nope. Then I really scratched my head.

BTW -- what thread was all of this in, the one that was "hijacked"?

Or did they print an article outlining what happened after a never before done surgery, and months of rehab?

Typical surgery, 2-4 anchors. Brees' surgery, 11 anchors. Plus repairing a torn rotator cuff.

It's not like he sprained his shoulder, and AJ told him to pack his bags.
This is so funny. Your arguing a point that time has proven was wrong.
We all have seen it over and over, serious injury to a great player, someone takes a chance on him, he suceeds. Yea, it was a chance, but so are first rounders.

And again, AFTER the surgery and during rehab, he showed full range of motion.
Im not saying AJ should have signed him before the surgery, but afterwards it was going very well, thats when he should have signed him.

Hell, I remember how I felt when he went to NO, we had just spent years trying to find a good QB, and now we are going to go back to that. Who knew if Rivers would work out, remember Cryin Ryan?

I mean it wasnt guaranteed Brees would still be able to play QB, but at that time, I felt we should have kept him and odds were he would still be good.

It was in "Who do you want to replace Norv and Co."

Brees ain't gonna be our coach.

How is one of only two offers an insult when a FIRST ROUND QB IS SITTING ON THE BENCH? Really?
When the article was released is irrelevant.
I didnt call it an insult. Others did. I dont even know how much he was offered, does anyone?

I bet lots of Chargers fans who said we should of kept Brees are the same ones who were ripping on him when he was stinking up the joint and wanted him gone. LOL. You know it.

Exactly. It wasnt even really a predictive statement, as he said, "never had done this before"

But again, again, I say, you need to look at the period between post surgery, and when AJ let him go, thats the critical time, not before the surgery.

That was Drew Brees statline in 2003. I'm sure you saw "it" right there, amirite?
Why would you bring up his 03 stats when we are talking about 05, You picked that year.

Brees 2005, 323 completions in 500 attempts. 64.6 pct. 24 TDs, 15 Int.
sound like he was improving to me.

Not to mention , 2003 was only his second year with significant playing time. SECOND year.

Can you please list the players who have had an injury as extreme as the one that Brees went thru, who came back to "succeed". Not even sure what that means. They played again, or should we call success winning the Super Bowl?

I'm talking Joe Theismann type injuries. Not a sprained ACL, and a rolled ankle. Devastating, life changing injuries.

I'm willing to bet that list is pretty dang short.
