A very good / outstanding player at his peak? Yes, I agree.

The three-time Pro Bowler a Hall of Famer? The 15-year veteran hasn't even made the "cut" to 25 semi-finalist candidates over the five years he has been eligible, and the list of contenders grows every year.

Rodney will never get a sniff of Canton.

I agree - we've never had a Safety that deserves the HOF.

Maybe not HOF due to perception of him being an overly aggressive hitter ala Jack Tatum. Rodney was a bit more versatile and adept at multiple coverages and playing the run.

Your right...Chargers eventual release most likely made him an even better player and of course Super Bowl Champion.

There are only 2 Defensive NFL players with 30+ sacks and 30+ int's both have 2 SuperBowls and one is a 1st ballot hall of famer and the other....the one not involved in a homicide does not get a sniff at Canton. I think it will be a crock if he doesn't eventually get in.

I imagine many saw Gil Brandt's recent posts on his best players ever at all positions.

Even with every Cowboys Safety to ever play in the NFL on his list, Brandt still had Weddle at 28 and Harrison at 24.

Sacks weren't a stat until the mid 1980s (Night Train Lane, Larry Wilson, Kenny Houston and more than a few others) had more than 30 sacks and waaaaay more INTs than 30. [Larry Wilson would have formed the 50-50 club https://www.revengeofthebirds.com/20...ildcat-wilson]. Not to mention that sacks are near the bottom of the list of priorities when you are evaluating DBs.

Harrison hasn't cracked the top 25 in his first 5 years of eligibility, and with only 5 getting in per season and a boatload more of top 25 list types becoming eligible every year, the odds are astronomical that Harrison will ever get in as virtually everyone who eventually gets in starts out as a semi finalist as soon as their eligibility starts.
