I'd keep Mebane for another year and cut or restructure Liuget. Pick up another good run stuffing DT or draft one.

um........................this post is Freak Approved IF Zach Brown can play all 3 vacated positions. INCLUDING DE and DT, at the same time. AND give up zero sacks at RT like Barksdale did.

What about Verrett? He's due to make $8+ mil this final option year of his deal. Keep him, cut him or try to trade him?

That 8 million is already sunk cost because the Chargers already excercised his fifth year option. So I doubt they cut him and I also doubt we get anything substantial in a trade for him.

For everyone you cut, you have to replace. How many roster holes do you want to replace in this draft. PR's window will close in 3 years. Plug those last roster holes through the draft (OT and OC).

I would replace Barksdale through the draft. Luiget (although over-paid) is a legitimate starter. Mebane (although advancing age) can be effective with a quality rotational player. Maybe a cheaper FA DT (run-stuffer) to upgrade/replace Square...? Then draft a good ILB in 2nd or 3rd round...? The LB we draft will either start at SAM (over Emmanuel) or be a backup to Perryman. How high of a draft pick do we use for a backup ILB...? I prefer our LB prospect be a versatile player who starts at SAM but has the skillset to play ILB as well.

Exactly! Lock up that secondary (Boston, also). In a pass-happy NFL, there is no better way to make your defense top-5. Getting a gift in UDFA Trevor can not be wasted. It won't be inexpensive, but money well-spent IMO.

Also need to think about eventual re-sign of Bosa. This probably means not spending a bundle this off-season in FA.

A third running back that can contribute more than Brandon Oliver and Andre Williams do.
