Good against the Manning brothers, and that's it.

Lets see. He's 1-1 against Patrick Mahomes. 3-3 against Ben. 2-0 against Russell Wilson. 1-1 against Andrew Luck.

What do these head to head matchups really matter?
Nothing. It's Rivers vs their defense. Brees, etc vs Chargers defense.
The current LAC coaches & personnel vs top QBs results are looking up, point to a need at DL/MLB most recently.

Agreed. Also, I am not down with the idea of trying to necessarily make personnel decisions moving forward, based upon what happened @ NE.

Nearly everybody played poorly.

That's a relief. If we based it on the Patriot game we'd have to replace the entire squad.

The NE game was just awful for the Chargers. I'd like to get MLB and/or FS in FA and DT/NT at #28. Dexter Lawrence looks like a real beast in the middle at DT.
His drug suspensions could push him down to #28. I hate that it was too long ago in draft world. By the end of April everyone will dismiss it.

Our first round pick is going to be one of MLB, DT, FS, or OT.

The best player remaining on the board when the Chargers pick?

If the only takeaway is that our coaching staff takes this as a very strong lesson in what championship-level game planning and preparation is, I'll be okay with the loss.

We had a great season overall and did do a great job against the Ravens, but the Patriots are a whole 'nother level. I do believe we have the right head coach to get us there, again if the right lessons are learned from this game.

Best player on the board could easily be a WR or CB.......

Anything is possible, but it won't be typical if that happens. The Top at those two positions usually go in the top 10, then there is a lull, and pick up again near the 20 spot.

I have watched Pitt pick late for years wanting a CB. The top ones always go earlier, and the next group gets picked right before their late draft slot. This is why they have tried to fix the secondary for years in the draft, and have failed at it.
