Raiders, Derek Carr finalize 5-year, $125M extension

The NFL's richest man now resides in Oakland.

The Raiders on Thursday signed Derek Carr to a five-year, $125 million extension with $40 million fully guaranteed and $70 million in total guarantees, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, citing sources familiar with the deal. The deal has elevated Carr over Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck as the league's highest paid player in terms of average money per year.

Paid like a franchise QB, but is he is the real question. I don't think so.....

Reggie Mackenzie hit the mother load by drafting Carr and Khalil Mack in one draft! Carr deserves his payday. As many last quarter heart breaking losses we had, Carr led the Raiders to at least a half dozen come from behind victories. Many on the last play of the game.

he's a darn good QB and he's still really young. he IS their franchise QB for sure and he got paid as one. Not sure if he is the best to be paid the highest but hey, your contract rates are what is at the current cap limits, and that is constantly going up. You dont make a contract up and model it after someone else's contract 2 years ago, or even last year. But hopefully they keep overpaying several players so they got nothing left to pay every other regular player.

/agree with this

Taking off the hater glasses and its easy to see Carr is actually a franchise QB and not a bust like his brother. The guy still has to prove he can win in the post season but so does every QB without a SB ring.

We won 13 straight against you. What's your point?

25 million a year to a QB with one winning season, and ZERO playoff wins.

Sounds legit.
