![]() While trading for him might've not made sense for an aging DE (he's 31), would picking him up on waivers be a smart idea?
If we can successfully pick him up on waivers, he could certainly help off the edge. He has a guaranteed salary of $8 million this year, and $9 million next year, however. How much of that would the Chargers have to assume if we were to pick him up? |

![]() I just realized this should probably go in the AFC West sub-forum.
Mods, can you move this to its rightful home? |

![]() $3.5 million.
Unfortunately, he will almost certainly be snapped up before the Chargers waiver claim turn rolls around. Still hope that they put in a claim. Who knows? ![]()

How does the waiver wire work mid-season? Is the order before the start of the season the same as throughout? Or does it reflect from worst record (highest priority) to best record (lowest priority)? I'd imagine And do we have 4 million to spare? Last edited by shruggy; 11-03-2018 at 04:56 PM.. |

![]() According to the link below, our cap space is close to 2.5 million:
https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/los-angeles-chargers/ We'd have to make a cut or two to get him on board. |

![]() Let him clear waivers, try to get him on the cheap as an FA.
If not roll with what we got.

![]() I don't know about claiming him on waivers and assuming his contract, if he passes thru 24hr waivers and doesn't get claimed he becomes a FA and can be signed at a more reasonable price, I think the Chargers only have about $2.3mil in cap space last I checked, I recently read he wasn't playing due to a shoulder injury not believed to be serious, he's 31, how much does he have left in the tank?
I'd say if he passes thru waivers check him out. *NOTE* .... at this time on waiver claims the worst team records for this yr have first crack and go down the list to best records, we'd be low because of our 5 - 2 record and the rams last. Go Chargers! ![]() |

We might be able to roll with him on board. Gus and Bruce could be a match made in heaven. I know he wanted him in Jacksonville, too. If he goes unclaimed, I'd have to feel that the Chargers would have one of the better chances of signing him. He's played on the West Coast since his first year in the NFL, would probably want to play for a contender, and I haven't heard of a Seattle player yet that didn't like playing for Gus. |

![]() We shall see if anyone claims him.
Prior to the trade deadline he would not have been subject to any waivers as a vet and would have immediately been free to sign as a FA if cut. Since the deadline has passed, through waivers he must go. |
