Default The Draft Nostalgia Thread

Playing GM has been fun all these years. One last time, let's pat ourselves on the back, eat crow, and come clean with our misses.

I'll start with my fails:
-Didn't want Bosa. Didn't think he would fit at the time. At least I wanted DeForest, which woulda been pretty okay.
-Hated drafting MG3. Wanted Cam Erving there.
-I thought we got an epic steal with Manti Teo in the 2nd.
-Loved Braxton Miller, thought he was the next Edelman. I wanted him where we took Tuerk so whatevs.

Nailed it a few times:
-Big on Baker. Not for us, but knew he would be legit.
-So wanted Myles Jack. I like Hunter, but just imagine.
-I wanted Devondre Campbell where we took Josh Perry.
-I thought Eddie Jackson was a solid 2nd rounder. I do have to admit, though, I thought Forrest was a steal and was thrilled he fell.

Myles Jack was the most sexy pick coming out of UCLA.
Remember the big debate on getting him? Played running back...
all world intimidator fantastic ball skills. Social media workouts...
changed perception of him w/ his knee injury.

At the time, one person had pre-selected Bosa. I
was on the Buckner train too. Boy we're we wrong.

Lamp created such pandemonium when he was selected. Still
waiting...

Perryman...instantly known as the Hammer the moment he was selected.
T'eo and him we're like peas in a pod. Funny that both share the common
trait of being so injury prone. Maybe they meet again in New Orleans.

Liked Gurley over MG especially after their rookie season. Goes to show
that development and the players motivation are keys to being a solid pro.

Lovely drama watching James fall like a magnet to us.
Over 100 tackles 3.5 interceptions...
multiple passes defensed later and Pro Bowl-
All Pro and rookie team honors later...yeah baby!
We're lucky to have him.

Are you kidding?

Nobody with Buckner is feeling like they did wrong. ... . not by a LONG shot.

Well the impact Joey Bosa has made to our defense and earning defensive rookie of the year speaks for itself. I haven't heard a whole lot about Buckner until we played him. Impact? Not as big as Bosa has been for sure.

He affects play through his hustle on almost every snap, strong work ethic, talented in using his hands to beat linemen...he's damn good and ours hopefully for some time. I know we all realize this now...it was a good top 5 pick that year in terms of his overall impact and we didn't bungle it up for once.

I am staying away from QBs from now on.

There were specific reasons to tout those players.

The pros are at about .500 on prospects...be humble...never stop.

One plus...I was very early on Austin Ekeler...that required diligence.
