It was worse than that. At that time Belichick said that he taped opponents defensive signals every game that he had been a head coach including preseason going back to his first game as the Browns head coach. This also overlaps the beginning of games where they likely started deflating Patriot non-kicking game balls in 2006.

Wow...makes you wonder why he would not be doing the same thing nowadays. With all the ultra secret high tech gadgets available on the market, the same videotaping AND audiotaping can be done cheaper than before, and would be much easier to keep secret.

I still can't get over how blown out we were. How were we so close playing them last year but not this year? One would think Bellicheck would of picked Gus apart in 2017 as well, they had Michel in 2018 we had Derwin.

Maybe Belicheat laid off on the cheating last year, realized his team regressed without it; then resumed the cheating this year...

That is a whole nother form of cheating. When you watch Pats games especially in the playoffs you will notice their O line NEVER gets called for holding. Just like their DB's never get called for PI or holding when it matters. Its easy to play D or block when you know that there will be no calls for your penalties.

You arguments certainly holds water IMO.... It was not nearly the entire reason we lost to them this year.... you can't wait until halftime to make adjustments when you are getting trounced... Furthermore, how could Gus and Co. not be prepared for the pass to White out of the backfield? They had a terrible gameplan on D. You saw that they could compete in the 2nd half. It wasn't like the Patriots didn't try and run up the score.... the D just finally started executing a better gameplan. But the non-calls... particularly on offensive holding... have been ever present since the Patriots became a media darling. And of course you can easily go a step further and see that they get every ticky-tack PI and PF penalty in their favor on O. On the 1st drive we could have stopped them in the RZ and forced a FG... and they call PI on Hayward against Gronk... I thought that was a total pro-Patriot call that the Chargers would NEVER enjoy. Against the Chiefs, Brady gets a PF call after getting slapped on the shoulder.... every replay decision goes their way... the list would just go on and on.... so what is the point? The ONLY way the Chargers could beat the Patriots in the playoffs is if they dominate them. The refs will give the Patriots every break imaginable... so you have to just overcome all of the bias and flat out beat them. It isn't fair... but it is a reality we need to be prepared for.

Very true. The game plan and lack of adjustments was really pathetic. In the first half there were several third down stops which the Pats got away with PI and then the Pats player that hit Rivers on a false start that was blown dead? Really? If the Chargers did that to Brady the player would have been ejected from the game along with the personal foul. When you look at it in context had those calls been called correctly the Chargers O would have been on the field longer and less time for the Pats O. Again not taking away from our lousy game plan and you are correct every team needs to game plan for the bad calls and lack of calls. It even caught up to the Chefs in KC.
