Im thinking this will go a long way to fixing our kicker situation. He was one of 2 kickers in the draft that was supposed to be really good.

We'll see....
His numbers in college look pretty darn good. Would be awesome to have our kicking woes finally solved. Not sure if he is the answer... he might not even get a chance to prove himself.

Yep. Badger isn't much better than Sturgeon, though:

Badger: 79.4%
Sturgeon: 80.5%

And just for the heck of it, here's some other ex-Bolts:

Novak: 82.0%
Coons: 87.5%
Koo: 50.0%
Rose: 78.6%
Lambo: 85.9%
Kaeding: 86.2
Carney: 82.4%

So, based on figgie percentage, the best of the bunch is Travis Coons, at 87.5%. Actually, this gives me an idea. I'm thinking of starting up a new thread:

Is it time to fire Sturgeon and Badger, and bring back Coons?

There is no true fix for the FG spot in 2018. But the future move to make is to sign Gostowski next off season. The bolts solidify the FG kicker spot. And take away from the AFC team to beat. If the Charger front office truly wants to push the team up in the AFC. The move is Gostowski in 2019.

Better question would be is what is the FG % on kicks 50 yards or less. College kickers attempt some kicks from crazy distances. That's probably gotta skew the percentages.

Those arent exactly easy in college also due to the wide hash-marks.... i guess i should have said he had high marks coming out of college... and by the looks of it he performed very well in preseason....

I hope he gets a shot. Sturgis is not... and was not.... a good kicmer.

So...we now find out that Sturgis had a minor groin injury all along, even since training camp. I didn't hear of that. That can affect a field goal kicker, I'm guessing.

Groin? It sounds like the same quad injury that he was recovering from last year.

Sounds like Sturgeon is like Novak 2.0 with the recurring injuries...now that we have Badger, maybe time to cut Sturgeon loose...
