There were a few members who said he was going to be useless, that Virgil Green was going to be the man with Culkin being a sleeper. One poster positively declared Gates is done. I know who it is, but I'm not going to call him out. Maybe he will come forward and pay his penance. lol

Do you know him personally? You purport to know that he finds it funny when people call him fat and old? I've been around the team long enough to know him about as well as you do. Sad...

Seriously.....

Don't be stupid, the use of the word 'probably' clearly indicates speculation on my part. I have been around many professional athletes, enough to know most just laugh about this type of stuff.

Curious....which is the issue, "a bit fat" or the "old" ?

He definitely is not what he used to be......but being the vet that he is, he can still make the occasional play.
Occasional is true, but don't undervalue the clutch plays this guy is still making. Three out of four catches for 1st downs, Two were crucial first downs in the game winning drive. You needed some #85 to pull this one out.

Huge 2 point conversion in Pitt with another big play negated by penalty. Big game in Denver.

When he catches the ball, its usually a 1st down. He will continue to get those handful of targets and keep drives alive. He knows his role - he's not the big play TD guy. He's the keep the drive alive guy when needed.

Plus, I think we might see him turn it up the last few games. he's averaging about 35% (ish) of offensive snaps. It's not like has been carrying the majority of the workload at TE.

Gates showed last night that he can get open in critical situations and has the moves once he catches it to get some YAC.

Im happy for the guy. Hes back in the playoffs. Hes part of something special

I agree, I think come playoffs he will turn it up a notch. We will all be pleasantly surprised when he does.

I for one am happy he is back and able to contribute. He may not be the player he once was but is always in sync with Rivers and can use that to his advantage. Good deal!

I'm complaining that I might run out of coconut oil for my Gatesey.

I like the part where you say you're going to give him the benefit of the doubt, and then proceed to not give him the benefit of the doubt.
