Under Norv, they were up and down, with 2010 and 2012 being the worst years. Under McCoy, they allowed the most sacks, especially MM's last three years. Here's the breakdown, remembering that the highest number means a lower number of sacks allowed:

2002 - #27 in league - among league lowest sacks allowed (Marty's first year)
2003 - #22
2004 - #29
2005 - #19
2006 - #24
2007 - #24 (Norv's first year)
2008 - #24
2009 - #26
2010 - #11
2011 - #25
2012 - #4 (Michael Harris at LT all year; Rivers's worst QBR season at 46%)
2013 - #30 (McCoy's first year)
2014 - #16
2015 - #12
2016 - #13

For sack ranking each year, you'll have to click passing, then click on the SCK for sacks to get true ranking.
Sacks tell one part of the story. I would like to see "pressures" and "hurries" more. Rivers' quick release helps mitigate some of the sack issues.

Who cares, look at all the bad drafts and non OL players drafted. If we focused on drafting the trenches Rivers would be fine.

I'm guessing that you just said a whole lot more than you meant to

His best QBR years were with Norv, 1st year McCoy/Whis. Sacks are bad but don't tell the whole story. Offensive success is a total team effort.
Lynn/Whis coaching offense may be very good. OL play most definitely counts but they do not exist in a vacuum. The scheme has to fit the players. I wish us luck!
Agree with this... 2013 was also the year we had a fireball rookie WR named Keenan Allen. He took ALOT of pressure off PR that year.

2013 was Whiz having short quick plays that kept rivers outa trouble.

Mathews, Woodhead, KA, Gates all had strong years, PR & the offense were very efficient. The OL posted one of their better rankings. There was a good mix of run/pass - short & long ball.

With an established run game a lot of pressure will be taken off Rivers and he should return to form, making plays and picking apart defenses. A West coast style offense would not hurt either.

Also had a VERY strong run game with Ryan Matthews having his best season, especially when running out the clock in the 4th quarter.

Mixing a strong running attack, short quick passes and the more-than-occasional deep ball kept the opposing defenses off balance. I expect the same in 2017.

You want analysis? Don't ask me: I'm just a Pollyanna lying idiotic know-nothing ball-watching stat boy.
