While it's inevitable Rivers' physical skills are declining, it also seems like he does not have the mental toughness he displayed earlier in his career.

He no longer LEADS the Chargers....

On a separate matter, the game has changed so much since Phillip entered the league; immobile quarterbacks are much easier to defend and gameplay against.

Is Rivers the only reason we are 0-3?

Could it be our owners?

Coach?

Kicker?

Lack of run blocking or a running game?

The play calling and designed running attack???

Nooooooo.....this is ALL Rivers

Rivers did us no favors today and today's loss is more on him than anyone else.

We aren't a very good team anyway, with him playing poorly we're really not good.

16 road games doesn't help.

Yep. Agree 100%. Why is Rivers such a sacred cow that we continue to stick with him, even when it's evident to all he panics under pressure and loses us games?

In magic world we trade him. In real world we suck this year, draft a QB next year, suck again, then start the next QB in his 2nd year.
Except there's no need to keep starting him next year if we already drafted his successor. Open competition in training camp and whoever wins gets the starting job. I don't think this roster is as devoid of talent as some people think. Why would we automatically accept being a bad team again next season?

We have more than enough weapons on offense in Gordon (not a great back, but has proven to be above average when he has sufficient blocking), a great WR corps with a borderline elite option in Allen, deep threats in Twill and Benjamin, and a #7 pick that we should hold out until fully healthy next year, and two solid tight ends at different points in their respective careers. The offensive line hasn't been nearly as bad as expected this year, and is at minimum good enough to support the skill positions and win games now (with our prized 2nd round pick returning to the lineup in 2018 and likely more picks in next year's draft to further bolster it). Defense...nuff' said.

Add an athletic, mobile QB that can open up the playbook and an actual identity on offense, and why shouldn't we be able to compete better than 3 or 5 wins in 2018?

Just picture Clemens taking over for Rivers.

They both still live in SD and Clemens carpools in Rivers mobile film room. That'd be a awkward situation lol

Yep. For example, what if one of our starters who has been reliable in the past, suddenly makes several miscues over the past couple seasons, resulting in us losing multiple games? That's Rivers the past two years. Don't understand why Rivers gets the "sacred cow" treatment based on his achievements years ago.

Short memories here...
You must have a really good long term memory if you remember the last time we went to the playoffs two years in a row. Or even the last time we won more than 5 games... that's starting to become hazy, too.
