Default If Fisher is gone, should Bolts take Johnson at #11?

By now, it's just about a lock that Luke Joeckel is long gone by the time the Bolts pick. After Senior Bowl week, now it looks like Eric Fisher's stock has now shot up, and that he may be gone in the top 10. So, if this happens, do the Chargers take the #3 rated OT in Lane Johnson? A lot of mocks have him in mid-1st round, and if we trade down too far, we may lose him as well. What should we do?

No. We should take the BPA. If Joeckel and Fisher are both gone, I'd imagine that Star, Warmack or Milliner will be there at #11.

Amen to that. BPA rather than reach for position of need. I also struggle with taking a Guard at 11, so I say take some of the elite Defensive talent which will be available if Fisher is gone.

I would take Johnson at 11. It would be close between Johnson and Warmack but I think Johnson would be a better pick for the bolts. In FA I would like us to pick up a RT like Starks or Cherilus. Fisher would be my top pick of course but if he's gone that's the route I would take.

My 3 round mock:
1. Fisher/Johnson
2. Okafor/Trufant/Ansah
3. Larry Warford

It all depends on what happens in FA and with Big Lazy Gaither. If we don't have a legit LT Rivers will be running for his life again this year. I think Johnson is a starting LT in the NFL that will only get better. He needs to add a solid 10 pounds to be more of an anchor but dude is super athletic he's said to run a 4.8.

So if we draft bpa then when do we draft a decent tackle? Second round?

It'd probably still be a significant upgrade from UDFA. Which is what we had this year.

BPA better be a much higher rated prospect then Johnson. In other words he better be a top 12 prospect at a position in need. I had Johnson as a 2nd round guy but I like him in the mid first round right now.
