How about the Thunder Cats?

Thunder, thunder, thundercats, hoooo!!!!!
Smash Brothers isn't original at all. That nickname has been used over and over.

Philip Rivers - Rip His Lip Rev (Getting criticism for his trash-talk?)

Melvin Gordon - Modern Loving (Or, after a really bad game "Delving Moron")

Austin Ekeler - Earliest Nuke (A quick-strike weapon?)

Derek Watt - Dark Tweet (sounds like some kind of social media spy)

Keenan Allen - Lean 'an Kneel (Perfrect for his excellent route-running)

Travis Benjamin - Verbatim Ninjas (This would also be a good name for a rock band)

Antonio Gates - Titan Age Soon ("Inane Gas Toot" and "To Go Anti-Sane" were too good to leave off)

Joe Barksdale - Job: Sak Leader (I know it's not "sack", but that was too good to pass up)

Joey Bosa - So Be A Joy (To us, but not our opponents)

Melvin Ingram - Malign Vermin (I hope he maligns some vermin this weekend!)

Hayes Pullard - Salary Upheld (Starting to earn his keep? It was either this or "Already Plush")

Casey Hayward - Shady Raceway (It was a toss-up between this and "Scary Headway")

Lol... Barks' was the best.

Great stuff.

Just one question: how long did you take to put that together??
I would've taken a couple of days

I used an online anagram generator to get dozens, hundreds, or even thousands in a few seconds. Most of them are terrible of course, but every now and then there are some pretty funny ones.

Joey Bosa is definitely an ascending star in only his second year playing alongside Ingram and Chris McCain has also come on as a surprise as an undrafted free agent with multiple sacks. Combined these guys are off to a great start.

However, you can't say these guys are already better than the legendary Bruise Brother's can you? C'mon now. If your a Charger fan you remember the Bruise Brothers we're made up of

-now NFL Hall of Famer Fred Dean
-Louuuuuie Kelcher who played awesome against the run
-Gary "Big Hands" Johnson who was a terror playing with his cat quick first step as a pass rusher
-Leroy Jones who rushed as the other defensive end.

These guys we're truly a front four on the Chargers defense. They led the league in sacks and Fred Dean earned Defensive Player of the year. If they could of compensated Dean with a better contract, I think they no doubt could of helped the Chargers win a Super Bowl. I was pretty pissed that they let Dean go.

Heck all three: Kelcher, Johnson and Dean eventually won an NFL Championship all while playing with another team (the 49ers). How impressive is that? Smash Brothers? I'll grant you the nickname but to say their better than the Bruise Brothers? Not even close sir.

Ok, Jacksonville can, but can any OTHER team claim this? No, no they can't. I'd say this front line will prove to be better than the Bruise Brothers. Will be better than The Purple People Eaters. Will best the stats by The Orange Crush, oh wait, that nickname DID win a championship, bad example...at any rate, they HAVE earned a nickname.

I like the Smash Brothers as it uses the "Brothers" moniker that the Bruise Brothers had.

Ironically, it is said that the unwillingness to give Dean his desired contract was all part of cost cutting measures by Gene Klein the then owner who was trying to sell the team. He wound up doing so to the father of our current ownership family of the Spanoses.

Like avatars, I also like nicknames. Defib applied.

Saw someone suggested Vise Squad for the defense name. Not bad, but I'd go with Thunderswarm. We seem to always swarm the QB or football.
