OG Jonah Williams @28 ??

Quote:
I never graded Alabama offensive lineman Jonah Williams as a top-10 selection and have said so publically. In fact, I project him at guard in the NFL rather than left tackle. Williams is superb fundamentally but lacks the athleticism, agility and footwork to stay at left tackle on Sundays. Since the national title game, Iíve spoken with at least a dozen insiders and scouts to see if I was off base, yet they all agreed with me. The earliest grade Iíve received on him is the mid-first round, while some project him as a second-round selection. Everyone Iíve spoken with projects Williams to guard at the next level.

Technique and astounding consistency
make Jonah a top ten
in my book.

Different experts value different things in respective prospects.

Offensive line play can be VERY scheme dependent.

FWIW, Duke Manyweather values
Elgton Jenkins highest.

He has the position flexibility I value.

A fresh knee injury in round 2? I believe I read that Bryce had blown his out. Correct? IF so the CMB would explode using a 2 on that.

true.... he's got a torn ACL and wouldn't be ready 'til the start of the NFL regular season.

some peoples have him penciled in as a round three selection and some even later into day three.... personally I see him as a top ten talent in the draft, every bit as good or better than Christian McCaffrey.

worst case scenario is that he's got Jason Verrettitis and that his incessant/nagging injuries plague him for his entire career, and as he reportedly played on a bum ankle for the '018 season.

by most accounts he is undersized and has durability issues, and is a high risk investment if I'm (a disciplined) GM.

all that said, Kareem Hunt is Bryce Love 2.0

Love has had a similar career arc as Hunt, as both of 'em blew up early in their careers, had a fairly off year and ended up fair 2 midland to close out their college careers.

dude is a major league health concern, and perhaps if you're a savvy/well schooled GM you stay well clear of his lot, and....

dude absolutely turned the Pac 12 on its ear averaging 8.1 YPC and can go to the house on most any play. he is a rotational back w/good hands as a pass catcher, and as his frosh receiving stats were good outta the backfield.

one of my main rules as a draftnik is to stay away from durability concerns, so am going against the grain here, and.... he's the game changer that I want in my backfield, 'specially given what KC has done w/Mahomes and Hunt (albeit guessin' he never wears a Chief uni again ?)

Chargers visits * Day 2 Shrine Game....

LB Malik Carney, Justin Hollins
DT Kevin Wilkins * explosive 1step, aggro hands 2 disengage blocks
DT Daniel Wise * wrecking ball in middle, destroyed multiple pass sets, violent hands, devastating rip move
WR Ryan Davis * nasty 2x move w/stutter step 4 TD, explosive in & out of routes, on outside and coming from the slot
CB Blace Brown

more D. Mack * terrific leverage, good shedding technique, collapsed anchor of Olinemen, hand power overwhelmed and outmanned OL

and sidenote re: Ricky Walker * could not get off blocks, heavy feet

Tops on my list right now. I think it might be a Derwin-esque fall though to get to us.

One of the rare interviews for the steelers was Justin Hollins.

I like his tackles for loss stat this year.

We have two dynamic edge rushers... but one of the biggest stories this year is the number of players getting pressures on the QB from the interior of the DL. Donald, Buckner, Cox, Reed, Atkins, Autry... CBS has Jones and Donald listed as DE... I know Donald plays DT... I thought that Jones did too. At any rate, we need a disrupter up the middle... Interior DL has been a weakness for a long time now.

I like White at ton... and Brown played his best ball since his rookie year in his absence... but the jury is still out on Nwosu and there is nothing else on the LB squad to be excited about. LB Corp is our glaring weakness.

Addae has to go... but I am worried about FS the least. We could get a guy in the 2nd or 3rd that is an immediate upgrade.... or we could get a guy in FA.

We can always use more CBs. Hayward regressed a TON this year... such a bummer. So typical of the Chargers to have an all-pro player for two years that we don't make the playoffs.... then the team comes together and our best CB lays a friggin egg.

OT is our biggest weakness on O. Good news? I don't really think we need much when it comes to skill position players. Yes, we will likely lose Twill... but Allen and MDub are #1a, #1b moving forward IMO... and I think Davis, Scott or Cantrell have a chance at emerging.
