The both lived exceptionally long and full lives. That is something to be celebrated.

You want analysis? Don't ask me: I'm just a Pollyanna lying idiotic know-nothing ball-watching stat boy.

RIP and condolences to the family.

It was almost exactly 2 years after minority owner George Pernicano passed away.

Story in the Sac Bee about the life & legacy of AGS. I grew up in this region and have some history with Spanos dating back to long before he bought the Chargers. My mother worked in the construction up here for a time and knew his family. His company built malls and apartment complexes in the Delta region. As many of you may know, he tried to buy the 49ers in the late '70s, but got outbid by some guy from Ohio who bought the team for his son, Eddie.

The man who tipped AG to the fact the 49ers were for sale was his personal friend Al Davis, of whose team AG was a big fan.

Two years ago I woke up with a blockage in my heart and ended up at the Spanos heart wing at Mercy Hospital (referenced in the article), which is a few blocks from me here in Sacramento. It is is beautiful and modern facility. I do feel blessed to have been cared for there.
