My favorite picks in this draft is the Derwin James pick of course and the Kyzir White pick. Had him mocked at the 3rd. Hes a 2nd round talent imo and we got him in the 4th

Only reason why I didn't give Bolts an A was they didn't get an ILB with coverage skills AND they didn't upgrade OT, where our talent is thin. But, maybe they turn one of those LB's or hybrids into a coverage ILB...overall very good draft, and a shockingly great pick with James...potential to be an A draft, depending on how well talent does...

The Sporting News rated the AFC West offenses as one of the losers this weekend because of the Chargers draft.

"As if Derwin James wasn't enough in Round 1, Los Angeles doubled down on defense with yet another talented edge rusher (USC's Uchenna Nwosu) and necessary depth at tackle (N.C. State's Justin Jones). They're ready to go after two division foes with new QBs (Broncos and Keenum, Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes) and wreak more havoc on Derek Carr."

They did great w James and White - maybe both could be starting . Nwosu is good too and likely another starter.

Justin Jones is still a head scratcher w Harrison Phillips there. Time will show if that choice was wise or not. For that the draft gets a B vs an A.

Rest was ok. Could have used an OT vs another WR IMO. Jackson could be the 3rd down back too.

Always tough to grade a draft on day one.
Especially, when teams pick players that aren't household names in the draft mocks.

For now, I like the draft, except as you said, they didn't touch OT, and add 1 OL that going to be a back up for a couple years.
B+. It could be higher, depending on how successful the D picks pan out for stopping the run

EDIT: the other plus is the bolts depth is got alot better too IMo

The best Offense is a good Defense.

B-

But we'll see how this draft turns out. Feeling hopeful about all the hype our defense is getting.

When judging a draft I just look at it from a far lens. Meaning the first couple of rounds. Because those are the players expected to make an impact. Considering we got a gift at 17 with James, I'll give them an A. Adding to an already formidable defense with James and so young depth. I'll take that. Plus we didn't give up picks to move up. Giving us a shot to get some hope for a late round gem. And not having to read post of how the front office reached, remember Weddle, Hester...

I think we got tougher on defense by drafting smart, physical and versatile defenders. Love the drama leading to the James pick. Totally unexpected. Hope he has a health free OTA and summer camp. I can't wait for Derwin to be a starter on day 1 laying some nasty wood on the Chiefs. Go get him alpha dog!

The theme of versatility and physicality looks to be apparent with the other defenders selected.

Disappointed they didn't attempt to address OT. Denver plans to rotate Chubb, Miller, Shaquil Barrett and Shane Ray to pressure Rivers all game long. If Phillip gets injured, our season is over. I think RT is a liability. I've seen enough of Joe to know that he can't protect in crucial passing situations.

Justin Jackson checks all the boxes. Runs with some nice lateral moves something MG is unable to do. Can he return punts and kickoffs? This too is a major achilles that impacts field position. We shall see.

After seeing past picks fizzle out after a couple seasons. I give no grade until I see how these guys contribute well into the season maybe two.

Go Bolts!
